The VP of Youth Development will support activities related to GO Club, Camp, Play & Learn, Early Childhood Centers, and other youth serving programs. This position is responsible for supporting curriculum, evaluation, risk, and staff development in youth development through program quality and fidelity. They will have a direct focus on program development, safety, recruitment of participants, retention, staff development, and customer service and experience in youth development programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (not a complete list):
· Consistently and clearly communicate and work with all VPs to ensure the strategic goals of the association are met.
· Prepare annual promotion plan, with association marketing department, for all GO, Camping, Play and Learn and before and after school areas within and outside of the local branch.
· Lead strategic plan initiatives related to youth development programs.
· Promote consistency and quality of staff in GO, Camp, and Play and Learn departments and maintain and improve retention of members and participants and volunteers through quality experiences.
· Teach staff how to build ongoing, lasting relationships that move participants to members and members to donors.
· Ensure safety is always prioritized.
· Challenge thought processes and participate in decision making with association leadership.
· Support branch leadership in areas of responsibility.
· Provide program evaluation tools and calendars that support the strategic goals of the organization.
· Facility quick checks and other methods of evaluating fidelity and quality for all Youth Development programs on a scheduled basis.
· Be open and willing to perform other tasks asked of you.
Required:
· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
· Minimum 5 years in YMCA work or equivalent experience
· Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in school programming
· Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in camp programming
· Minimum 2-3 years of experience in fundraising
· Director qualifications for DHS.
· Current CPR/AED/First Aid/O2 Certification (will provide upon hire)
· Volunteer and Staff supervision experience
· Knowledge and experience in budgeting, fiscal management, financial development, and community relations
· Excellent communication skills.
