Corporate Controller

The corporate controller plays a pivotal role, running finance operations, ensuring strict adherence to accounting standards, driving financial KPIs and overseeing the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. This role requires strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of financial regulations, experience with SaaS-led hardware solutions and experience with pre-IPO company dynamics. The successful candidate will work closely with our CFO, CEO, leadership and audit team to ensure efficient operations and accurate financial reporting.
The corporate controller will partner with the operations team to achieve seamless data flows between our contract manufacturers, 3rd party logistics partners, freight forwarders and CRM users to drive our global customer first strategy.
Our ideal candidate will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with the ability to be in our Campbell, CA Headquarters. We may be open to remote/hybrid opportunities for exceptionably qualified candidates.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee global financial workflows, partnering with initiative leaders to meet financial goals and developing and leading a team integral to efficiently running the business.
Quote to Cash (QTC)
Our QTC cycle is fully automated through integrated CRM and ERP systems, designed to deliver accurate, real-time data and streamline processes for our global sales, solution architecture and system engineering teams.
The QTC cycle includes quoting (providing real-time single unit economics), order management, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations, billing, revenue recognition, payment and reporting.
Finance Operations (FINOPS)
Automation is central to our Run the Business (RTB) strategy. Celona’s advanced application platform ensures accurate and timely financial data management across our global operations. FINOPS responsibilities include:
- Managing operational workflows for credit assessment, accounts receivable, quoting and sales order approval, accounts payable and expense management, payroll, inventory, fixed assets and equity. The corporate controller will be the initiative owner for the ERP system and related application stack (bill pay, expense management, payroll, sales and use tax, credit assessment and equity).
- Meeting committed financial KPIs including TCV, revenue and margin attainment, spend management and operating cash flows.
- Efficient leverage of our revolving line of credit, meeting lender compliance and reporting obligations.
- Management of all treasury functions in compliance with the investment policy.
- Partnering with customers and vendors to establish efficient communications and data flows via electronic portals.
- Managing an efficient close process to provide all constituents accurate, structured data within agreed timelines. Close workflows include ensuring compliance to GAAP with contemporaneous analysis and reconciliations leverageable for bank and external audits.
- In partnership with FP&A, understanding and reporting variances to the plan of record/current forecast and evaluating spend to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
- Our global footprint requires experience operating in international geographies, overseeing 3rd party audit and tax filings for global entities.
- Leading initiatives to modernize financial operations through the adoption of emerging technologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Audit
Working closely with commercial banks and external auditors to facilitate global audits, address findings and ensure efficient and timely remediation.
Tax and Valuations
Responsibility for global tax adherence, including payroll, sales and use, property and income tax compliance and management of global common stock and warrant valuations.
Compliance
Regulatory compliance, ensuring that all financial operations adhere to local, national and international regulations governing audit, tax, financial reporting standards and industry-specific requirements.
Leadership
Lead the recruitment, training, and development of our global accounting and finance teams. Foster a culture of excellence and collaboration, setting the standard for a high-performance work environment. Commitment to leveraging technology to ensure team members are achieving their learning and development goals.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; an active CPA or equivalent certification is required.
- 10+ years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role. Experience with SaaS-led hardware solutions is beneficial.
- Breadth of experience enabling tactical execution with strategic foresight; experiential diversity desired.
- Proven track record of managing audits and working with big 4 audit firms.
- Proficiency of GAAP, SEC reporting requirements and internal controls.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with executive leadership and external partners.
- Proven managerial skills; track record of staff development and mentorship.
- Expertise in financial systems, including advanced ERP and Excel.
Compensation for this role is between $175,000- $200,000.00. At Celona full-time employees are eligible to receive stock options and company sponsored benefits.
