POSITION TITLE: Energy Technician 1
LOCATION: Greenfield MA

SUPERVISOR: Energy Conservation Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY
The Energy Technician 1 conducts electric baseload efficiency audits, assess electrical appliances for potential replacement, client education, and direct installation of LED lightbulbs for income-eligible clients throughout Franklin and Hampshire Counties.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES?
- Perform Baseload Energy Efficiency Audits and appliance assessments
- Schedule audit. Participate in rescheduling audits if applicable.
- Conduct initial visit, in-home client interview; provide Energy Efficiency and Health & Safety education to Client.
- Inform Client about other Agency-sponsored conservation programs: Weatherization Audits, Heat Repair and Replacement, and Fuel Assistance; all other CAPV programs.
- Perform Data Collection and Appliance Documentation of existing conditions.
- Perform direct installation of energy saving LED lightbulbs and other instant savings devices.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of Client information.
2. Project Oversight
- Comply with Agency and Funders’ paperwork requirements and procedures.
- Maintain audit, work scope, and billing records/paperwork for assigned jobs.
- Complete data inputs to track progress for all assigned and completed work.
- Follow up on pending items on assigned jobs.
3. Maintain Agency energy conservation tools and equipment in good condition.
4. Maintain knowledge of and compliance with conservation program regulations.
5. Maintain production schedules as defined by Funding Source contracts, regulations and guidance, and Agency directives.
6. Follow program procedures and comply with documentation requirements.
7. Professional Development
- Attend mandatory and relevant Agency and Funding Source trainings
- Attend staff and supervisory meetings
8. Required to travel regularly throughout the agency service area, to all Community Action sites and service locations, and occasionally out of the service area.
9. Perform other duties as assigned by the Energy Conservation Coordinator, Energy Director or Agency

Key Knowledge and Experience:?
- Experience working with marginalized communities and individuals with low incomes
- Experience?involved with?residential energy audits,?including assessment of Building Shell, Health & Safety and Home Heating Appliances
- Experience with data management, data capture, tracking methods and analysis for outcome measurements
- Knowledge and effective application of Funding Source rules and guidelines for the expenditure of Energy Efficiency, Weatherization, and other relevant funds
- Knowledge of local, state and federal building codes, building design and construction, and inherent problems associated with older housing stock and multi-family homes
- Adapt to changing priorities and demonstrate close attention to details?
- Computer skills: E-mail, Microsoft Office applications, data entry and energy modeling software programs
To Qualify?
Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills:?
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 year of experience in related work
- Must have own reliable transportation for daily travel throughout the agency and program’s service area as well as occasional travel in the region for training.

- The position occasionally requires use of hands to handle or feel, use of arms/hands to reach, and use of entire body to lift and or move objects of up to 50 pounds and even 100 pounds
- Manual dexterity required for use of calculator and computer keyboards, phones, and building diagnostic tools
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- The work environment includes an indoor office space, travel to and in Client’s homes (including attics and basements), and to outreach or meeting sites
- Occasional outdoor work may expose employee to hazards and/or extreme temperatures when assessing building exterior, traveling to audit or weatherization job, outreach or meeting sites
- Audit sites may contain hazardous materials and/or expose employee to extreme temperatures
- The noise level in the office is typically quiet, and may vary
- The noise level in the client homes may vary

Employment at CAPV is contingent upon successful completion of Criminal Offender Record check (C.O.R.I.) for hire, and every three years.
