JOB SUMMARY:

Maintains, rebuilds, modifies and makes replacement parts for assigned tools to PCG tooling, quality and time standards. May troubleshoot tools and help pressroom as needed.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

  • Reports to Tool Maintenance Manager who delegates work, controls workflow and hours worked.
  • The Management must approve all tooling changes.
  • On-site regular, reliable attendance is required.
  • Part, Strip, Component and Tool Inspection
  • Unscheduled Maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Works with Management on continuous process improvement
  • Reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted.
  • Determines specifications for inspection of work, using precision measuring and gauging tools, performing required inspection before, during and after machining
  • Performs hand operations involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools and dies. Uses hand tools of the trade.
  • Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools and dies. May set up and tests dies to produce a product to specifications, tracing die difficulties to their source and correcting it.

  • Experience with carbide grinding


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Updates all shop prints in red.
  • Updates tool maintenance card on work performed, hours expended and signs cards.
  • Maintains daily time sheets for tool maintenance cost analysis.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment and area assigned to.
  • May work with product designers providing input to manufacturing capability on newly formed products
  • Job duties as assigned by manager
  • Perform duties that are deemed beneficial to the operation of the company by the management of Precision Concepts Group
  • Operates in a safe manner at all times, uses protective equipment as required and follows all safety policies of the company.
Requirements

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent
  • Job duties as assigned by Manager


TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Completion of formal apprenticeship program or completion of in-company, five-year training program to satisfaction of management. Journey level machinists may qualify for the Tool and Die rate after the completion of one year of further training in tool and die work, as approved by Management.
  • Requires a very high degree of precision and control in work where damage could be high and where muscular control and delicate touch are required
  • High degree of attention and care required, to prevent injury to self and others when operating machine tools
  • Requirements: Operate a dry manual surface grinder. Ability to grind Carbide and Tool steel to tolerance of +- .0001 in some cases. 3 to 5 years' experience on surface grinder. This position is in a die and mold shop.
