GENERAL SUMMARY:

Reporting to the CA Maintenance Manager, the CA Maintenance Worker I performs ongoing facility and equipment maintenance and repair for Goodwill Industries® of Sacramento Valley and Northern Nevada (Goodwill); primarily in California and upon request in Nevada. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

•  Diagnoses, maintains, and performs minor repairs to electrical systems and equipment; replaces ballasts, fixtures, installs and repairs electrical wiring and lighting circuits in connection with the repair or alteration of buildings and facilities; troubleshoots electrical malfunctions and makes appropriate repairs.  

• Diagnoses, maintains, and performs minor repairs to plumbing systems and equipment; performs rough in, top out, and finish plumbing to replace broken pipes; cleans plugged drains; performs routine maintenance on fittings, and other fixtures; installs new plumbing fixtures. 

• Prepares and repairs surfaces for painting; applies paint, enamel, or other protective finishes to various surfaces. 

• Diagnoses, maintains, and performs minor repairs to manual and automatic door systems and equipment; replaces doors, locks, or related hardware; performs minor repairs to ceilings, walls, or flooring. 

• Performs welding tasks as assigned. 

• Responds to repair emergencies as directed by the CA Maintenance Manager, CA Maintenance Supervisor, Director of Operations, and Chief Operating Officer.  

• Refers necessary jobs to a CA Maintenance Manager for a contract service. 

• Identifies hazards and follows all department safety and emergency procedures. 

• Completes tasks in a time efficient manner. 

• Utilizes Asset Management Tool (AMT) software to document repair activities. 

• Prepares and maintains required reports and maintenance records for completed work. 

• Establishes and maintains a positive working environment and provides excellent customer service.  

• Assists in the development of long-range plans for future resources and maintenance needs to be included in annual budgets. 

• Coordinates with the CA Maintenance Manager and/or CA Maintenance Supervisor in reviewing the quality of vendor work upon completion. 

• Ensures adherence to all Goodwill policies, CARF standards, and safety and security regulations. 

• Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• ??Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Must have the ability to perform routine, repetitive, and/or physical tasks.

• Must have the ability to productively work and cooperate in a team environment.

• Demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to practice standard safety techniques.

• Demonstrates a general knowledge of the use of elementary hand and power tools.

• Must be able to work indoors and outdoors year-round.

• Must be able to perform a full range of semi-skilled and skilled tasks involved in a variety of building maintenance, repair, and construction activities, including those requiring rough and finished carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, mechanical, painting, and welding skills.

• Must have the ability to safely drive and skillfully operate power equipment and hand tools. 

• Must not present a direct threat to the safety and health of self, others or property.

• No record or disclosure of criminal conviction that indicates a tendency toward theft, violence, dishonesty, deceit, drug manufacture or sale, moral turpitude, or predatory behavior.

• Must provide proof of identification and eligibility to work in the United States of America.

• Must pass a drug screening and criminal background check.

This position is a full time, non-exempt position eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance; 403(b) retirement plan; Paid Holidays, Vacation and Sick Leave. This position is employed by Goodwill Industries® of Sacramento Valley and Northern Nevada, Inc.
