Job Summary:

As a CMM Programmer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards. You’ll create and maintain programs for our Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), working closely with engineering, CNC programming, and quality teams. Your work will directly impact the success of aerospace and defense projects.

  

What You’ll Do:

  • Create Inspection Plans: Develop AS9102 First Articles, Inspection Plans, and Ballooned Drawings from 3D models or 2D drawings.
  • Write and Edit CMM Programs: Use PC DMIS software (or similar) to write and edit programs for      inspecting parts, whether manufactured in-house or supplied by vendors.
  • Validate Programs: Ensure first-run programs are accurate before handing them off to CMM operators.
  • Manage Program Revisions: Keep track of CMM program revisions, archiving outdated versions to      prevent use.
  • Coordinate with Teams: Attend Job Release meetings to schedule and prioritize CMM programs.
  • Support In-Process Inspections: Work with Engineering and CNC Programming to integrate inspection steps into the production process.
  • Troubleshoot Issues: Collaborate with various teams to address any out-of-tolerance dimensions and resolve issues.
  • Improve Processes: Implement initiatives to reduce inspection cycle times for both automated and manual methods.
  • Train and Mentor: Create clear setup instructions for operators and mentor inspectors on advanced techniques.
  • Stay Updated: Keep up with the latest inspection technologies and suggest improvements.
  • Maintain Equipment: Ensure CMM machines are in top condition by scheduling regular maintenance and calibrations.
  • Keep Work Areas Organized: Follow 5S principles to maintain a clean and orderly workspace.



Requirements

 What You’ll Need:

  • Eligibility: Must be eligible to handle explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as required by the ATF).
  • Blueprint Skills: Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Inspection Experience: Solid visual inspection skills and the ability to handle delicate parts and instruments.
  • GD&T Knowledge: Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Tool Proficiency: Experience with micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and surface plate setups.
  • Computer Skills: Basic to intermediate computer skills, particularly with relevant software.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment: This role involves sitting frequently, with occasional standing, walking, and lifting of up to 25 pounds. You may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, or explosives. Ear protection might be required in some areas.
