Professional Standards:

Maintain professional standards in order to complete essential job responsibilities - State and ME guidelines

  • Maintain current license/certificates without allowing them to expire                                                                   
  • Maintain current CPR certificate without allowing it to expire                                                                                     
  • Attain a clear understanding of all Resp./Sleep Therapy equipment and how it operates in order to provide quality service to the patient/customer 
  • Attend in-services and training seminars to keep current with new products, therapies, policies, etc.               
  • Demonstrate proper set-up, usage, loading and unloading on all equipment used and dispensed in your specific job area. Successfully pass all skills checklists.

Set-up and Delivery:

Provide courteous, accurate and timely delivery, set-up and pick-up of patient/customer Resp./Sleep Therapy equipment. Maintain all necessary and required paperwork at all times

  • Perform respiratory CPAP and BIPAP patient set-ups, patient assessments and follow-ups according to defined schedule                                                                               
  • Perform Ventilator patient set-ups, patient assessments and follow-ups according to defined schedule   
  • Perform Airway Clearance patient set-ups, patient assessments and follow-ups according to defined schedule
  • Document all patient visit/phone call outcomes on a daily delivery log and patient notes from clinical chart. All paperwork should be turned in by the end of the day 
  • Deliver and set-up Resp./Sleep Therapy equipment, dispensing new patient packet where required. Answer any questions patient may have or relay questions to the appropriate personnel                                                             
  • Explain patient rights, checklist, P&Ps to the patient     
  • Verify actual merchandise. Communicate any patient/customer concerns to your supervisor immediately (and document chart) 

Customer Service:

Handle telephone calls in an informed and professional manner.

  • Answer incoming telephone calls in a timely and professional manner                                                               
  • Route telephone calls to the appropriate person 
  • Answer telephone calls questions asked by patient/customer to the best of your ability or transfer to the appropriate person for an answer. Consider taking patient information and calling back with an answer

Vehicle Management:

Maintain clean, stocked, tuned and orderly company vehicle.

  • Check vehicle daily for any defect or damage externally as well as internally                                         
  • Keep vehicles clean and orderly at all times. Maintain equipment per vehicle inventory list.                                   
  • Maintain stock of personal protective gear (i.e. gloves, hand sanitizer, mask, etc.)
  • Follow vehicle maintenance schedule and obtain service when needed at designated sites.                              
  • Report any mechanical problems to supervisor and obtain necessary service in a timely manner.

Other Responsibilities:

Handle all other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Perform HME repairs as needed and document as necessary 
  • Assist in other areas of ME as needed or required.
Requirements

Experience

  • Experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Experience in home medical equipment as a Respiratory Therapist

Education

  • Associates Degree required
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Respiratory therapy education preferred

Licensure

  • Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner License
