Position Purpose
BHA is looking for energetic, passionate, and motivated Special Education Teachers to provide care and support to our clients and their families in a school setting. This position is primarily responsible for creating and delivering academic instruction to students at Milestones Academy in their respective hall or classroom. We partner with many service providers and members of our client’s advocate team in order to provide the progress needed.
OUR MISSION: BEHAVIORAL HEALTH WILL CREATE MEANINGFUL CHANGES IN THE LIVES OF INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILIES THROUGH THE USE OF EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICES AND DEDICATED SERVICE PROVIDERS.

Education and Experience
• Master’s Degree in Special Education or related field preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field and Missouri Teacher’s Certificate required

Position Responsibilities
1. Employ special education strategies and techniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory, and perceptual, motor skills, language, cognition, and memory.
2. Instruct students in academic subjects using a variety of techniques.
3. Provide coaching and modeling on all academic programming.
4. Manage caseload of approximately 15 students including all steps of the IEP process.
5. Enforce all relevant policies and procedures for KCBH and Milestones Academy.
6. Ensures compliance with school district procedures, state, and federal laws in relation to Special Education and IEPs.
7. Complete and send quarterly progress reports to parents and school districts.
8. Develop curriculum and lesson plans for students.
9. Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students in a positive environment.
10. Assist in collection of data.
11. Develop, provide, and promote regular in-service training to the Milestones Academy team regarding special education procedures.
12. Perform other related tasks as assigned.

3. Manage and develop a team of employees in accordance with KCBHH’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and recommending candidates; training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; recommending rewards and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and building an effective team dynamic.
4. Actively participate in the national healthcare community; stay abreast of trends, competitors and legislation.
5. Serve as a credible and collaborative leader with both internal and external constituencies by understanding the healthcare landscape and responding quickly to needs.
Who We Are
BHA is a comprehensive behavior analytic who incorporates the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behavioral Intervention & Supports. Our services address the needs of families, schools and agencies by conducting assessments, developing and providing intervention and providing training in an effort to provide improved quality of life. We provide services to a variety of disabilities varying from 18 months through adulthood. We are located in the Greater Kansas City, MO area.
