GOH is a small management consulting firm supporting the federal government since 1997 (www.gohnow.com). We are looking for an experienced process development/technical writer professional to support our federal clients.
Job Summary:
The process Development/Technical Writer researches, writes, and edits materials for related reports, manuals, briefs, instructional material, SOPs, and technical publications. Obtains technical and operational data from independent observation, review with staff members, and/or existing materials and documentation. Interfaces with users, specialists, analysts, programmers, etc., to obtain background information of technologies, methods, and standards.
Essential Functions:
- Quickly integrate with the existing teams to learn requirements and processes
- Identify process documents/standard operating procedures (SOPs) and templates needed and information required to effectively develop SOPs
- Support the development of SOPs, processes, and templates – using screenshots as needed
- Ability to take existing and potential content and improve it
- Identify and provide strategies for process optimization/improvement activities
- Facilitate team conversations around process development, collaborating with subject matter experts and technical staff
- Provide technical accuracy in writing support for process development activities
- Convert complex documentation to easy language for multiple audiences
- Disseminate technical information in easy-to-understand language and concise manner for a non-technical audience
- Create internal and client-facing SOPs as needed
- Re-evaluating existing processes and identifying areas of continued improvement
- Prepare overall instruction manuals for SOPs as needed
- Implements production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards
- Resolves problems, completes audits, identifies trends, determines system improvements, and suggests changes
- Provide regular status updates and reports to leadership

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Systems, Business Management, Policy, Education, Early Childhood Education, or other related disciplines.
- 6+ years of proven experience in writing technical documentation
- Understand and explain complex technical concepts
- Ability to undertake multiple projects and deliver on tight deadlines
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office or Google Docs
- Detail-oriented

Reports To: Project Director/Program Manager
Work Environment: The work environment is a typical remote setting.
Physical demands: The physical demands of the job include sitting for extended periods, occasional walking and standing, and potential extended hours of operation if required to support onsite project requirements. The employee must be able to lift packages of at least 25 pounds.
Position type and expected hours of work: Full-time exempt position. Typical work hours are Monday-Friday, 40-60 hours per week. Some job activities may be required outside of typical workdays/hours. Overtime may be expected during peak periods.
