The Director of Athletics and After School Programs is primarily responsible for directing and coordinating all activities of the Athletic Department. The Director ensures the education of athletes is in alignment with The Learning Center for the Deaf’s mission statement.
SUPERVISOR: Director of Student Services
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Providing guidance and direction for Marie Philip School’s sports program;
Preparing budgets and allocating spending on items such as coaches' stipends, team travel, equipment purchases, and facility upkeep;
Coordinating with coaches about the scheduling of games and practices;
Collaborating with athletic associations and leagues about scheduling issues;
Determining the time allocated for a field, court, or weight room;
Working with coaches to plan trips;
Coordinating officials and umpires at games and budgeting for their pay
Filing reports on the status of each team and its successes and shortcomings;
Mediating any disputes between athletes and coaches or between coaches;
Conduct evaluations of coaches;
Work with Youth Programs Coordinator with supervising youth program & after school options staff, coaches, and officiate as needed.
Coordinate clinics and strength & conditioning programs;
Travel with athletic teams to tournaments as needed;
Expand and maintain youth athletics programs within the school;
Report all accidents/incidents occurring on and off campus to Director of Student Services;
Maintain a safe and clean environment;
Attend staff meetings and staff training as required;
Collaborate with educational administrators regarding policies and programming;
Ensure DESE compliance in regard to anti-hazing/no tolerance;
Communicate with participants, volunteers, and other staff in a professional manner;
Communicate with parents in regards to transportation arrangements for pick up after activities;
May be delegated and trained to conduct medication administration or certain medical procedure responsibilities for students;
**Required to drive students to tournaments and games, and additional driving responsibilities as needed.
