Waste Water Technician
Description

The Wastewater Technician, under the direction of the Wastewater Lead, maintains, repairs, installs, troubleshoots, inspects, and controls the flow and processing of wastewater, and purifying water from the plant before it enters the parish treatment plant.


Responsibilities & Duties

  • Follows all safety procedures and GMPs.
  • Operates and maintains wastewater treatment, sludge processing, handling equipment, and housekeeping of the area.
  • Maintains and repairs pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum filters, and other equipment used to treat wastewater.
  • Monitors control panels and adjust valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate the flow of wastewater through settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes.
  • Reads and interprets charts, flow meters, and other gauges to determine the operating efficiency of equipment.
  • Lubricates pumps, valves, and other equipment, and repairs parts where necessary.
  • Assesses needs regarding maintenance, spare parts, modernization, and improvement of processes.
  • Performs other related duties, tasks, and projects as assigned by the direct supervisor.
  • Able and willing to work overtime when required.
Requirements


  • 2 years of experience with wastewater treatment operations.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Electronic skills.
  • Experience with basic hand tools and electrical meters.
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams.
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and problem-solve.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and relationship-building skills to effectively work, with a variety of people and personalities; able to communicate clearly and effectively to all levels of the organization in person and writing including training.
