Western National Mutual Insurance Company is seeking to expand its IT team by adding a System Administrator Intern. Our company growth, combined with our focus on innovation, transformation, and investments in the customer experience are key drivers supporting the expansion of our team. The System Administrator Intern will provide support to a variety of projects and initiatives, while playing a key role in our day-to-day operations.

Western National Internship Program Summary:
Western National provides a robust internship program designed for individuals aiming to acquire valuable experience in the insurance industry. This program not only offers practical, hands-on opportunities and project work in partnership with our agile practices team; but interns will also have the opportunity to enhance their existing skill sets through a range of professional development activities, cultivate relationships with employees and fellow interns, and participate in impactful volunteer initiatives within the community.
Position Summary:
As a System Administrator Intern in our Internship Program, you will be a key member of our Agile Practices Team. Possible takes that you will assist with include:
- Establish and perform administrator functions such as user management, profiles, roles, permissions, rules, assignment rules, and storage management.
- Create and manage system configuration specifications, training manuals, and other internal system documentation.
- Support end users with system questions and ad hoc training as needed; proactively solicit feedback and requirements from end users.
- Design and maintain ad-hoc reports and custom dashboards based on current initiatives and trends in usage and adoption.
- Perform data cleanup, data migration, and data integration to/from the software platform, troubleshooting any issues; log and track identified issues until successfully resolved.
- Stay current with system releases and new functionalities; communicate and manage system upgrades, releases, and the change control process.
- Utilize knowledge, experience, and available resources to find solutions
- Regular contact with customers and employees across the organization
- Occasional contact with outside vendors and third-party consultants
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Demonstrated understanding of relational databases and data integration tools
- Proven experience with identified programming languages
- Good mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Good organizational and prioritization skills with proven able to multi-task
- Demonstrated aptitude towards problem identification and resolution
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Proven ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion
- Ability to follow project management practices
- Highly motivated individual with proven ability to provide excellent customer service
- Proficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment and software packages
- Two years of college preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, library science, MIS, or CIS preferred
- Administration certification for assigned software preferred
Compensation Overview:
The base pay offered for this position will be $20.00/hour.
