Senior Metrology Engineer

Job Summary:

Seeking an experienced Senior Metrology Engineer ready to take our lab to the next level. We are seeing tremendous growth, and realize the importance of keeping Quality growing in step. Ideal candidate has a wealth of practical and advanced metrology experience and is ready to train, help, and improve. Daily tasks will change, but the overall goal remains the same: helping grow a robust quality department’s capabilities and knowledge base.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, test, improve, and implement inspection plans on complex and highly detailed parts.
  • Provide guidance and continual training to team members in the Quality department.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving ALL systems related to Quality.
  • Perform troubleshooting on equipment and lab instruments to resolve malfunctions. Proactively develop and evaluate options to address routine/known instrument and equipment issues.
  • Program and use CMM, OGP Vision systems, CT Scanner, and Keyence machines
  • Write and review SOPs and training procedures. Participate in laboratory quality initiatives to maintain and improve compliance, such as evaluating internal processes, suggesting and implementing improvements, and creating and revising applicable procedures and SOPs.
  • Develop, write, and execute qualification protocols and reports (IQ, OQ, PQ) for routine and specialized laboratory equipment, with knowledge and skill to moderate compliance risk.
  • Develop calibration and preventative maintenance processes and procedures for both routine and specialized laboratory instruments that ensure both reliable instrument performance and appropriate compliance risk.
  • Accurate in the processing of data and information, record keeping, and tabulating.
  • Familiar with ISO 9001 Quality Management System standards and understands the applicable requirements to be followed.
  • Develop measurement programs for use by quality inspectors and production personnel.
  • Perform Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) studies to evaluate measurement methods.
  • Provide support for Corrective Action investigations and join the internal audit team.
  • Optimize inspection methods to expedite inspections and manage equipment capacity.
  • Interact routinely with customers to develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Utilize knowledge of ISO/ASME GD&T to interpret engineering layouts, drawings, and documentation of various levels of components, assemblies, and subassemblies using CAD system (i.e., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Oracle).
  • Manage test method equipment qualification activities in conjunction with Quality Engineering and Program management.
  • Direct workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product or process quality, and reliability.
  • Compile and analyze measurement data and statistics to assess measurement methods and process capability.
  • Assure data availability and integrity for all quality-related data.
  • Consolidate and report quality results.
  • Identify and Report Non-conformances of products or processes.
  • Research and recommend lab equipment and purchases.
  • Conduct In-Process, Incoming, and FAIR inspections when needed.



Requirements

Qualifications:

  • CMM experience required
  • Familiar with OGP – Zone3 / MeasureMind / QC-CALC programming
  • Firm grasp of GD&T, blueprint reading, and interpretation
  • Hands-on team player
  • 10+ years Quality and Metrology experience
  • Experience with Injection Molded Plastics and/or MIM
  • ISO Auditor or ISO knowledge
  • Experience with Minitab
  • Proficient with Microsoft programs (Excel & Word)
  • Quality certifications are a plus – ASQ, IL-BIS, TMA, etc.
  • CAD knowledge a plus
  • 3D printing experience a plus
  • 3D scanning experience a plus
  • CT scanning and software use a huge plus

Ability to commute/relocate:  Wood Dale, IL. Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Pay: $27 - $33 per hour (commensurate with experience)

Expected hours: 45 – 50 per week
