GENERAL SUMMARY:


Reporting to the Program Manager, the Education Specialist will  provide case management and supportive services for the Adolfo Transitional  Housing program in order to help participants start, and continue their  employment goals. The Employment Specialist provides case management  and supportive services to youth in the Youth Employment Training Program  (YETP). This position cultivates training and employment opportunities through  the development and maintenance of ongoing relationships with the Sacramento  Work America's Job Center of California. The Employment Specialist  collaborates with case managers and other partners to facilitate youth's  success in the workplace and assists youth in development and implementation  of career track advancement plans. This position is committed to improving the  quality of services provided by seeking input from participants, employees and  stakeholders to ensure service delivery and accessibility is equitable to all  persons served. The Education Specialist is a full time, non-exempt position  eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance; 403 (b) retirement plan;  paid holidays, Vacation and Sick time. This position is employed by Goodwill  Industries of Sacramento Valley and Northern Nevada, Inc., through Next Move  Homeless Services. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Provide   employment case management to youth enrolled in the ETP program.

· Develop   on going Individualized Employment Plan with clear graduated goals towards youth   employment needs as well a career exploration sessions.

· Supervise   youth in workplace settings, as needed.

· Deliver   workshops related to gaining and maintaining employment and financial capability

· Maintain   database and case files of active client's progress as they move through the   program.

· Assist   clients in job searching, securing and retaining employme1t.

· Support   youth in participating in Wind Youth continuum of services including but not   limited to medical, and educational needs as identified by youth.

· Provide   counseling and services to assist youth in job retention a d career advancement.

· Track   clients progress in the workplace through regular communication with employment   supervisors and maintain up-to-date records of job retention

· Implement   relationship-building strategies with employers including presentations,   special events, Employer acknowledgement, and networking.

· Assist   in the design of promotional materials (monthly calendar, flyers, brochures,   etc.) targeting potential employers, homeless youth, and social service   agencies.

· Meet   regularly with youth's Case Manager to discuss client progress.

· Fulfill   reporting requirements weekly and monthly

· Provide   additional support to colleagues as needed.

· Responsible   for supporting programs within the continuum of care services. For example,   crisis intervention or helping to maintain the safety of the program. ,

· Responsible   for contributing towards the care and welfare of staff and to the clients we   serve.

· Other   duties as assigned. 

Other Duties/Responsibilities


· Ensures  compliance with all Next Move Homeless Services and Goodwill Industries  Sacramento Valley Northern Nevada policies, CARF standards, and safety and  security regulations.


· Attends  trainings and staff meetings, as required. 

· Completes  reports as directed by the Program Manager. 

· Performs  other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic Qualifications of the Role:


· Experience  working with the homeless population and knowledge of foster youth’s unique  needs.

· Exhibit a high degree of professionalism.

· Must not present a direct threat to the safety and health of self, others or property.

· Must be able to perform essential functions of this job description with or without reasonable accommodation.

· A strong commitment to the program and the mission of the organization.

· Extensive experience with strengths-based case management.

· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions; and effectively present information to management and/or public groups.

· Proven ability to represent the interests of the organization, interact effectively with a diverse population, and be comfortable building successful collaborative relationships with youth, staff and other stakeholders.

· High level of energy and good sense of humor with the capacity for extraordinary time and effort demands.

· Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.

· No record or disclosure of criminal conviction that indicates an ongoing tendency toward theft, violence, dishonesty, deceit, drug manufacture or sale, moral turpitude, or predatory behavior.

· Must provide proof of identification and eligibility to work in the United States of America.

· Must pass a drug and background screening.

Salary Description
$21.00 an Hour
