Description
This full-time position is responsible for providing patient care services in our Women’s Health clinic and Labor and Delivery Unit, including assessing, and managing patients following established standards and practices and within scope of practice. Works collaboratively with physicians.
Core privileges:
- Provide full scope nurse-midwifery services including antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum care, as well as well woman care and family planning according to established protocols and per agreement with the collaborating physician.
- Participate/lead appropriate interdisciplinary teams.
- Contribute toward development of annual health care plan as appropriate.
- Perform history and physical exams on new and returning patients.
- Manage acute and chronic illness' according to established protocols in collaboration with physicians.
- Refer patients to follow-up health care providers or community agencies as necessary.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as ultrasounds and blood tests.
- Provide emotional support and guidance during labor and pregnancy.
- Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs as well as identifying high-risk pregnancies.
- Monitor and administer medication, injections, and intravenous infusions during labor.
- Provide postpartum care to both mothers and newborns.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients.
- Maintain active hospital delivery privileges as requested.
- Participate in quality assurance review on a periodic basis, including systematic review of records and treatment plans.
- Participate in 1:4 call.

Requirements
Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) Requirements
Education: Master's Degree required.
Experience: 1-2 years’ related experience in nurse midwifery preferred.
Certificate/License/Registration:
- Current registered nurse (RN) license and Nurse Midwife (CNM) license from the State of Missouri required.
- Certification as a Nurse Midwife (CNM) by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- Current Drug Enforcement Association (DEA) license required/BNDD This is optional, not required.
