The Lutheran Center (national office) is located in Chicago, Illinois. A staff of 400, under the leadership of the Presiding Bishop, serve as administrators, advisors, conveners, partners, and resource people for the ELCA and its ministries. Staff lead the work of national, domestic, and global ministries and programs including Lutheran Disaster Response, ELCA World Hunger, Service & Justice, Christian Community and Leadership, and Innovation.  We are also home to five of our separately incorporated ministries: The Mission Investment Fund of the ELCA, Women of the ELCA, Lutheran Men in Mission, the ELCA Foundation and the ELCA Federal Credit Union.


About the position 


Information Technology (IT) provides technology services, support, and solutions to drive the mission of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and ensure that the data sources of the enterprise systems inform and support the strategic direction and intent of the churchwide organization. 


People delivering and advancing purposeful technology solutions in a secure, friendly, consistent, impactful, collaborative, and cost-effective manner to accompany people in creating value and accomplishing the goal, purpose, and vision of the ELCA. 


This position will provide support, maintenance, configuration and quality assurance for new applications, application changes and provide support for applications within product lines: financial, collaboration, constituent and digital applications.


The application analyst will advance, maintain and support applications, recommend business and operational improvements, design and specify systems and methods for configuration/installation, and perform configuration changes and installations.


This position will create technical specifications, test plans and operational documentation in coordination with the product manager/business analyst and functional applications power users / administrators. This position will oversee information system-related activities, and provide technology application support, protocols and education for primary enterprise systems.


This is a full-time, regular, exempt (salary), remote position. 


Candidates for this position must reside within the fifty United States or the District of Columbia and be authorized to work lawfully in the United States. Responsibilities

  

1. Primary technical support for Workday Financials, Workday Adaptive Planning, and related integrations (i.e. HR System, CRM, Adaptive, etc.). 

2. Provide second & third level support and day-to-day technical and functional expertise for assigned applications, including Fluxx Grantmaker.

3. Provides system security support including user access management (as requested and approved by business owners), data protection, and compliance monitoring.

4. Provide guidance and support to Financial Teams and end-users to enhance the use of the software systems.

5. Configure, maintain, and enhance systems to meet evolving business needs and regulatory requirements.

6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, IT, and other stakeholders, to gather business requirements and translate them into solutions.

7. Responsible for all technical tasks related to the recommendation and deployment of changes, enhancements and new versions of these applications across all computing environments within development, staging, sandbox, and production environments.

8. Analyze financial data to support decision-making, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure data integrity within and across systems.

9. Work with the product team and end users to ensure the effective testing of applications is developed and perform testing for software upgrades and other changes to ensure system functionality. 

10. Assist with user training programs, and documenting system processes, and provides a root cause analysis of all problems that occur within the systems.

11. Partner with Education & Adoption team to maximize value of technology products. Work with application owners to update internal documentation within the IT Support Hub.

12. Instructs and mentors Level 1 Support in repeatable support and troubleshooting techniques and processes. 

13. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

1. Four-year degree preferred with study in Computer Science or equivalent work experience and training. 

2. Minimum of three years of experience in applications administration, technical analysis or programming.

3. Minimum of two years of experience in Workday Financials and application administration.

4. Experience Workday Adaptive Planning, Blackbaud, digital products, collaboration tools, data warehouse or integration tools desired.

5. Knowledge and experience in Microsoft 365 products, Azure, SQL Server Integration Services, and 

6. Ability to develop and implement comprehensive technical documentation, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure.

7. Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and the ability to work independently and efficiently.

8. Strong mathematical and logical skills with accuracy to detail.

9. Ability to create data flow diagrams, data dictionaries, process specifications, IPO (Input, Processing, Output) Charts, Data Elements, Data Flows, and Structure Charts as needed.

10. Knowledge of nonprofit fund accounting, constituent management systems, digital systems, event registrations, endowments, fundraising, and general financial accounting systems a plus. 

11. Must be able to handle confidential data in a professional manner.

Physical 


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone. This position requires sitting for extended periods of time as well as lifting of equipment. Travel 


Position requires minimal travel to software vendor conferences, training, and related ELCA organizations by plane or car. Valid driver’s license required.
