As an integral part of the Accounting team, the Accountant performs full-cycle accounting functions including financial period closes, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. The Accountant is also the primary agent responsible for CSD’s Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R) functions, supporting other accounting areas as assigned, and performing general accounting, record-keeping, and other operational responsibilities for the FPA department. In collaboration with the Controller, the Accountant produces periodic or special financial reports used by CSD’s leadership team and supports ad hoc requests for financial information from internal stakeholders.
Essential Functions
- Processes all incoming vendor bills via mail/email and invoices including all snail mail, sets up recurring bills in CSD accounting software, and monitors regularly for each physical location/office CSD leases.
- Supports the team in the purchase requisitions process utilizing Sage Intacct to ensure consistency with purchases, ensures invoice accuracy by matching invoice amounts with our contract agreements/terms, verifies receipt of goods or services, ensures payments are charged to the appropriate account, and alerts supervisor of any irregular purchasing activities.
- Processes and codes all customer invoices and records applicable discounts and refunds for California Connect and ASL Now divisions, and manages Accounts Receivable (A/R), following up on invoices when necessary.
- Utilizes Sage Intacct to log and process accounting transactions from other cloud applications properly.
- Maintains and updates customer and vendor information timely in Sage Intacct including independent contractors
- Assists the team with ASC 842 lease accounting for CSD’s active leases and prepares reconciliations for right-of-use assets and liabilities (under ASC 842) and other accrual accounts in compliance with GAAP standards.
- Substantiates all journal entries, A/P and A/R aging, and balance sheet account reconciliations with evidence and supporting documentation for California Connect and ASL Now divisions. Provide attachments of spreadsheets or other electronic documents that are documented and easy to follow to support each journal entry and incorporate information into the general ledgers.
- Provides backup responsibilities for weekly cash disbursements, cash receipt records, manual check requests, and other financial processes.
- Analyzes accounting options while recommending, developing, and maintaining solutions to business and financial problems.
- Complies with and makes recommendations to strengthen CSD internal controls.
- Other duties as assigned or requested by Controller or CFO.

Qualifications
- Associates’ degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university; or equivalent professional experience
- Two years of professional experience as an Accountant or in a similar field
- Ability to communicate effectively using American Sign Language
- One year of professional experience as an Accountant focusing on Accounts Payable (PREFERRED)
- Experience using cloud-based accounting systems (PREFERRED)
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding and compliance with company policies, procedures, and values. The position works in a virtual office environment utilizing a computer and standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required interact collaboratively with the team and stakeholders, and communicate via phone, videophone, or text messaging. The employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The position may require travel up to 5%.
