About Us: The Pediatric Development Center is a leading provider of pediatric therapy services. Our mission is to provide the highest quality therapy in Southern Maine regarding assessments and treatment of children birth to 20 years, and support to their families. PDC is a private pediatric OT clinic employing 21 OTs and 7 support staff and we are expanding. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced physical therapist to join our multidisciplinary team.

Job Description: As a physical therapist at the Pediatric Development Center, you will play a crucial role in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating children with a variety of physical and gross motor challenges. We are looking to add physical therapy to our services at PDC for the first time, which creates an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and independent individual to start this program, collaborate with occupational therapists, and implement individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each child.

Responsibilities:

• Develop a physical therapy program for Pediatric Development Center including choosing relevant assessments and treatment tools.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and the specific needs of each child.
• Provide direct therapy services to children with physical and gross motor needs.
• Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to support the child's overall development and progress.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation including but not limited to:
  • Evaluation writing
  • Goal writing
  • Discharges
  • Treatment Notes
  • Letters of Medical Necessity
  • IEP supporting documents
  • Re-evaluations
• Stay current with best practices and evidence-based approaches in physical therapy.
• Provide education and training to parents, caregivers, and staff on strategies to support physical and gross motor development.
• Seek outside mentorship regarding clinical skills as needed.
• Receive mentorship from an experienced occupational therapist regarding non-physical therapy related clinical and professional skills.
• Maintain an up-to-date schedule, indicating any changes in adherence with company policy
• Assist with rescheduling clients as needed
• Clean up after oneself including but not limited to therapy spaces, therapy equipment and games, and office space
• Assist with cleanliness of treatment equipment
• Mentoring students both directly and indirectly
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and other disciplines such as SLPs, OTs, teachers, social work

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
• Board Certification to practice Physical Therapy
• Maine state licensure in Physical Therapy or eligibility for licensure.
• Experience working with pediatric populations in a clinical or educational setting.
• Strong assessment and therapeutic skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Passion for working with children and their families.
