Description

POSITION PURPOSE: To provide needed and requested services that support the overall health, holistic well-being, and optimal well-being of facility residents.  


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:


Makes every effort in good faith to support the well-being and quality of life for residents of CCMC. To deliver appropriate assistance in activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming to the residents who require or request these services. Encourages and promotes resident self-involvement in care to degree possible. To recognize opportunities and provide individual and small group activities of purpose and diversion based on ability and interest.

  • Document resident services when required in resident service plans.
  • To transport and/or assist residents with ambulation needs.
  • To support optimal nutrition and hydration through the provision of meals/snacks in a manner that facilitates adequate intake of food and fluids.
  • Serves meals in dining area to resident in a manner consistent with appropriate meal delivery, infection control practices, and resident preferences.
  • Buses dishes after meals and returns dirty dishes to kitchen.
  • To remain in compliance with in-service training.
  • To work effectively and in collaboration with other staff to deliver resident centered care.
  • Use all equipment in a safe and proper method.
  • Maintains the confidential of the work environment.
  • Is familiar with the current condition and behaviors of each resident and reports changes immediately.
  • Performs routine, visual safety check rounds to ensure well-being of residents.
  • Organizes tasks efficiently to deliver resident care.
  • Relate positively to residents, staff, and visitors. 
  • Observe changes in the service plan to accommodate the changing needs of the resident.

Participates in the orientation of new personnel by demonstration and example to assure familiarity with policies, procedures and equipment use. Cleans assigned resident rooms daily including dusting all surfaces, emptying trash, and work with resident/family to minimize clutter. Cleans resident bathrooms, common bathrooms, and common areas when needed. Cleans, vacuums, spot mops hallways and other areas as needed.  Cleans household kitchen/dining/activity area after use as assigned. Processes resident laundry including personal laundry and soiled linens acquired on assigned shift, following appropriate infection control requirements. Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to successfully complete all employee training components and provide return demonstration of knowledge and skills.
  • Must meet Division background check requirements.
  • Must demonstrate and interest in and ability to work with residents with dementia and challenging behaviors in a calm and confident manner.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize with multiple tasks, interruptions, and priorities.
  • Must have good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work with cleaning products in safe manner.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationship with all co-workers and the public.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move a resident by mechanical or non-mechanical means. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to focus.


NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following:

  • All aspects of the job are essential.


UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS:

  • Exposure to Blood/Body fluids is possible.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current Oregon License as a Certified Nursing Assistant preferred. Current CPR and First Aid Training or ability to obtain CPR/First Aid cards within 30 days of hire. Demonstrated interest and ability in caring for a population with Alzheimer’s and related dementias.

Able to ambulate, stoop, bend, squat and move a maximum of 60 pounds during routine care of an assigned group of residents for an 8 hour shift. 

  • Visual and Auditory activity within normal limits with or without prosthetics.
  • Frequent walking and transport of residents.
  • Push and pull wheelchairs and other equipment.

Must function independently, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies.

Salary Description
$17.00 to $22.00
