Excel Engineering, Inc. is seeking a team-oriented, highly motivated and experienced Part-Time Electrical Safety Instructor.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Electrical Safety Instructor will be expected to use knowledge of the electrical power systems and applicable standards to perform the following tasks including, but not limited to:

· Delivering training one to three days per week either remotely or at the client site. Training will be based off internally-developed material, and will be presented in front of groups of approximately 20 people.

· Adding relevant personal experience to keep training interesting.

· Scheduling travel plans to client sites that meet the guidelines of the training and adhere to our company travel policy. Scheduled training may require weekend travel. Preparing plans, designs, and supporting technical specifications.

· Assisting with training and course materials development.

· Providing technical support to the sales team as needed with electrical instruction clients.

· Performing any other duties and projects as assigned by manager.

· Making simple design decisions within company-established guidelines, procedures and practices, and apply sound basic electrical design/engineering methods to develop designs.

Requirements


Education and Experience:

· Two-year technical diploma in electrical design OR an associate’s degree in Industrial Safety and Health, Electrical Technology, Electrical Engineering, or other applicable disciplines (preferred).

· Five+ years’ of experience providing classroom instruction to adults.

· Five+ years’ of experience performing commercial electrical systems maintenance and installation.

· NFPA Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP) certification is a plus.

· Prior experience with Arc Flash and Lockout/Tagout procedures is a plus.


Qualifications:

· Expert-level knowledge of basic electricity fundamentals.

· Expert-level knowledge of NFPA 70E standards, OSHA Electrical Safe Work Practices, LOTO Electrical Safe Work Practices and the initiative to stay current with updated guidelines.

· Ability to present technical topics in an upbeat way and answer questions in a non-condescending manner.

· Strong organizational skills including paperwork management and preparation for training.

· Ability to build and maintain positive work relationships with management, staff members, and external contacts.

· Ability to arrive to work on time and maintain a positive attendance record.

· Ability to function independently and manage tasks without constant oversight.

· Prior experience using a computer and projector to deliver a PowerPoint presentation.

· Ability to make travel plans including creating sensible routes for multiple visits.

· Ability to withstand air and car travel rigors, including managing baggage, driving long distances, staying in hotels, nighttime travel, etc.

· Willing to travel up to 20% of the time.

· Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communications.

· Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels in the organization in a team environment.

· Professional and friendly demeanor.

· Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.


Optional Skills Applicable to the Role:

· Experience as a residential, commercial, or industrial electrician.
