The Senior HR Business Partner (SHRBP) is an advisor and consultant on HR issues. The SHRBP will be responsible for providing functional expertise, strategic guidance, and Human Resources counsel to all levels of management and will work closely with the HR department and the Executive Leadership Team.

The SHRBP should have experience in a wide variety of human resources functions, including but not limited to recruiting, compensation analysis, ADA compliance, leadership training, workplace investigations, organizational development, benefits administration, and complex employee relations, to provide tactical HR support for assigned business units. The SHRBP will also work as a consultant. As a consultant, the SHRBP will likely spend time gathering data, formulating a strategy, and presenting a plan to businesses seeking your advice.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources management, organizational development, or a related field is required. A master's Degree is preferred.
  • PHR or SHRM-PHR preferred. SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification is a plus.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience handling complex employee relations is required. Experience must include working knowledge of organizational development, workplace investigations, and other key areas of HR expertise as the sole business partner assigned to one or more functional business units.
  • Minimum of 7- 10 years experience handling highly sensitive, complex workplace investigations, determining investigation conclusions, writing investigation reports, and making recommendations for next steps/PIP when necessary.
  • Minimum 7 - 10 years in an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner role managing the day-to-day oversight of all functional areas of HR for a large business or multiple business units simultaneously (around 2,000 employees).
  • Collect and utilize data to assess engagement, staffing needs, productivity, goals, and other job performance metrics.
  • Strong understanding of ethical and legal standards in the HR field and ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Promotes a culture of ethics and integrity within self and the organization.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant MA employment laws and expertise in all functional areas across HR.
  • Previous experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or substance use treatment settings is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and change management skills required.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with employees and all levels of management.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Strong level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications and web browsers.
  • Ability to generate and make formal presentations on a variety of HR-related topics.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Maintaining highly confidential information and appropriate boundaries with colleagues and persons served is required.
  • Onsite work and daily travel to various program locations throughout the State of MA.
  • Reliable transportation is available for business use, as the ability to work in various locations in the Pioneer Valley is required.
  • Ability to work during regular business hours (8 am - 5 pm). Evening and/or weekend availability may be necessary based on business needs.
  • Maintains industry knowledge of practices and developments in HR strategy within the healthcare industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with executive leadership to determine business needs and collaborates with HR to help meet these needs.
  • Identifies new roles and/or existing job openings that must be filled. Leads the end-to-end hiring process.
  • Provides employee relations expertise to assigned business units, ensuring compliance with company, state, and federal employment laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates in the organization’s investigation process by investigating employee issues and concerns, writing thorough reports, and recommending the next steps based on the investigation findings.
  • Works closely with the business leadership team to coach, consult, and support leadership and organizational development, change management, and employee engagement.
  • Coaches employees about their performance, development, and/or career growth. Establishes PIPs when necessary.
  • Acts as a consultant, advisor, facilitator, and business partner by understanding the business issues of the unit. Identify and implement strategies to resolve identified business issues.
  • Fields a high volume of emails/phone calls within 24 business
  • Aligns HR policies, procedures, and strategy delivery with organizational mission and promotes best practices and consistency.
  • Acts as the liaison with internal HR functions on organizational design, recognition, hiring, compensation, benefits, leave, orientation, training, and employee relations. The SHRBP provides general support for performance management, job changes, promotions, and other employee transactions.
  • Works with department leadership to manage restructuring and reorganizations to strengthen the business.
  • Develops and conducts stay interview process and conducts exit interviews as assigned.
  • Leads annual deliverables through the HRIS, including performance management, merit and bonus awards, benefits enrollment, etc. The SHRBP ensures that performance goals are thoroughly communicated.
  • Strategizes, designs, and implements ways to improve employee retention and engagement.
  • Responsible for ensuring the leadership team has the tools and training to handle and resolve employee conflicts.
