The Tool Repair technician reports to the Store Manager.
This role oversees the service, maintenance and repair of gas-powered, electric and battery powered tools/equipment. They are responsible for the entire tool repair area ensuring maximum sales, profitability, efficient service-repair, purchasing, merchandising, inventory control and operating costs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Ensure that all customers are delivered consistently good service, by offering a respectful environment.
· Make certain all complaints and/or concerns are resolved timely and effectively to HLC standards.
· Provide a safe and clean environment in the Tool Repair area and report any issues to management.
· Be certain that customers clearly understand any repair to be completed along with warranty details and pricing.
· Accurately enter customer information, tool details, repair details, print order and label items clearly for future repair and/or pickup.
· Build on ability to troubleshoot a tool without disassembly to identify the problem by the symptom and customer description.
· Review and update the Tool Repair report daily providing accurate Opportunity status and next date required to maintain current jobs are in proper rotation and your time is managed effectively.
· Prioritize and schedule new repairs based on current repair times. (If a 44 customer you may entertain earlier repair time if your schedule allows)
· Submit warranties as applicable: Communicate requirements and status to customer.
· Accurately and efficiently repair a wide variety of hand/power tools that Hingham Lumber sells. (Typically only brands that are sold by HLC)
o Including by not limited to: 2 to 4 cycle gas powered engines, battery and electric powered hand tools and manual hand tools
o Push mowers, generator, snow thrower, trimmers, blower, chain saws, drills, nail guns, saw of all kinds.
· Perform physical counts, creating new part sku’s in ERP system and identify multiple sources to keep costs low.
· Ensure proper service merchandise inventory levels are maintained.
