The Workshop Manager
Manages staff and sets realistic expectations for the workshop teams in effort to meet UAP’s production initiatives. A Workshop Manager is responsible for running day-to-day activities at the workshop and enforcing business goals related to the operations within the facility. It is their responsibility to ensure that teams execute workshop functions safely and successfully, acting as liaison between a company’s upper management and the employees who manufacturer, assemble and deliver the work to clients.
The Workshop Manager is on-site full-time at the facility but may travel to other locations for meetings with company management or to meet clients when damage control is required. They collaborate with Production Managers and Department Leads to set priorities for the day and week. They also occasionally interact with customers and clients to maintain strong relationships and resolve any issues that arise.
Above all, a Workshop Manager assists Team and Expertise Leads to achieve their goals and ensures that all teams function effectively. Their specific duties and scope of work vary depending on the evolving needs of the business:
Train their staff, work to keep their teams organized, and delegate tasks to team members to carry out and perform workshop functions. Workshop Managers are strong communicators, addressing issues with employees and motivating their teams by acknowledging strengths while helping to overcome weaknesses. They empower their teams to be successful by delegating tasks, holding accountability, and offering opportunities for growth and exploring new ideas. They are flexible and use creative problem-solving to respond and adapt to challenges such as missed production goals, discouraged staff members, and unsatisfied customers.
