Head Start is a federally-funded, national child and family development program which provides comprehensive services for pregnant people, children from birth to age five, and their families. Services for children promote school readiness, and include early education, health, nutrition, mental health, and services for children with special needs. Services for parents promote family engagement, and include parent leadership and social service supports.
As an Early Head Start Toddler Teacher, you will work in an outcomes-oriented, team environment, and assist the classroom team in planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate environment and experiences for infants and toddlers. Motivated Head Start Teachers improve the trajectory of children’s lives, including children’s learning outcomes, living standards, and later academic and professional success. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related education field; Infant toddler specific education and experience that meets or exceeds the requirements for an Infant Toddler CDA Credential; knowledge and experience in developmentally appropriate early childhood practice, child outcome assessment, child behavior management, and curriculum planning, development and implementation; a commitment to social justice and to working with families with limited financial resources; effective verbal and written communication (bilingual abilities a plus!), documentation and record-keeping skills; valid driver’s license, clean driving record and access to reliable transportation; physical ability to carry out required tasks.
