Description

The Human Resource Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all services related to recruiting, retaining, and supporting the employees of Plantscape.  The Human Resource Manager administers all company benefits, employee safety programs, tracks and maintains records related to performance and compensation issues, counsel employees on issues that affect work performance, determine, create and deliver training to employees, and performs other related duties as assigned by the President.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages talent acquisition process, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding. Partners with hiring managers on job requirements, interviewing, and selection. Develops referral networks and recruitment pipelines. Oversees pre-hire process including references, background checks, and drug screens as required.  Oversees Plantscape new employee onboarding, ensuring employees are introduced to Plantscape’s values, culture, safety, and procedures. 
  • Ensures compliance with all laws and regulatory activities such as EEO, ACA, USERRA, ADA, ERISA, Worker’s Compensation, Unemployment and FMLA
  • Administers benefit programs such as health, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, 401K, and COBRA for company. Administers annual bidding program for all company insurance and assists in vendor(s) selection. 
  • Manages injury reporting/investigation and claims for worker’s compensation, short-term disability, and long-term disability
  • Manages accident and property damage reporting/claims, including assisting employees with filing of claims and securing payment.
  • Manages unemployment claims/investigations/appeals.
  • Chairs Safety Committee and conducts or oversees periodic safety education programs with employees including driver’s safety, hazard communications, general safety, sexual harassment, etc.
  • Coordinates and facilitates timely performance and compensation reviews by managers as well as proper internal documentation/filing. Conducts and reviews wage and benefits surveys; recommends wage policies. 
  • Oversees company-wide training and development; coordinates and delivers training programs for employees. Administers and reviews training feedback, maintains training records, and recommends training opportunities. 
  • Advises and supports managers with department orientation, training, policies and procedures, and employment matters such as discipline, transfer, promotion, layoff,  and termination. 
  • Oversees investigations and resolutions of employee complaints, concerns, and conflicts. Counsels employees and provides general training on professional development.
  • Oversees employment policies; updates and maintains employee handbook. Recommends new policies in accordance with employment law and best practices; partners with management to communicate and train on policies.
  • Assists in coordinating general workplace improvements to enhance employee morale, work conditions, and employee experience. Conducts exit interviews and shares feedback as appropriate.  Assists in administration of annual employee      survey; analyzes results and makes recommendations for improvement. 
  • Oversees H2B non-immigrant visa process, including documentation, compliance, and on-boarding.
  • Maintains Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and makes recommendations for HR technology improvements. Coordinates with finance/accounting personnel on biweekly payroll. Tracks and analyzes key HR data.
  • Serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Assists in preparing agendas and coordinating schedules.  Serves as a strategic partner to senior leadership to set and achieve company objectives. 
  • Assists and advises the President on human resources, organizational development, workforce planning, corporate communications, and other topics as required.

Requirements

  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources 
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in a Human Resources position. 
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR certification preferred. 
  • Highly proficient in Paylocity and/or ADP and other computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Payroll/HRIS systems.
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws (i.e., EEO, FMLA, Wage & Hour), including continuing education to stay abreast of changes to employment law and best practice. 
  • Ability to ethically handle confidential information. 
  • Ability to conduct through and impartial investigations.
  • Recruiting, interviewing, counseling, coaching strong training/presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, decision making, development/planning, performance gap analysis and conflict management skills
  • Highly developed organizational and prioritizing abilities, with prior administrative expertise preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, functions independently and accurately, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively and enthusiastically with other staff members, clients and vendors in a pleasant and productive manner
  • Willingness and ability to be flexible to changing needs and objectives of growing business processes
  • Experience and knowledge of H2B program preferred.
