We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented CMM layout / Romer Arm with Scanner Layout Specialist to join our dynamic team.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement dimensional layouts using either a Romer style, 7-axis portable arm or on a Mitutoyo Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).
  • Produce CMM operation programs in M-COSMOS with report outputs.
  • Utilize a line scanner or touch probe attached to a portable arm to produce CMM Style layouts, 3-D layouts, overlay heat maps to models, and A-B type studies.
  • Utilize scanner with software to perform PPAP submissions, reverse-engineering models. 
  • Analyze technical drawings and blueprints to determine measurement needs and optimize CMM or scanner placement.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to identify measurement requirements and adjust layouts as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with CMM scanners, including calibration and measurement discrepancies.
  • Document layout configurations and measurement procedures to maintain consistency and support future projects.
  • Provide technical support and training to team members on CMM scanner usage and best practices.
  • Stay current with advancements in CMM technology and propose improvements to enhance measurement processes.
  • Perform general maintenance, 5S, and everyday upkeep of Measuring & Test Equipment and Metrology Lab. Includes filing, cleanliness, organization, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  

Qualifications:

  • High-School diploma required, Desirable but not required - associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience with CMM, Portable layout arms, and scanner measurement systems.
  • Demonstrated Proficiency using Solidworks (or similar), Polyworks, GeoMagic software
  • Experience with creating layouts for reverse engineering from 3D scans.
  • Understanding of technical drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience in CMM software and programming – specifically M-Cosmos. PC-DMIS proficiency is also helpful
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Use of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Teams, Etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or specialized training in CMM and/or Romer arm with probe and scanner operation.
  • Experience with Mitutoyo CMM layout tables and related M-Cosmos programming language.
  • Familiarity with quality control standards, calibrations standards, IATF-16949 process and practices.
