Zwicker is presently seeking an Associate Attorney to join our team in Troy, MI. The base salary range for this position is $75,000-$90,000 per year.
Responsibilities of Associates Attorneys include
- Communicate effectively and appropriately with team members and outside parties, including corresponding and communicating with debtors and court officers regarding executions, post judgement remedies, and negotiating repayments on the same
- Draft, review, and file legal pleadings, motions, discovery, etc. in furtherance of active litigation files with an emphasis on reviewing and signing new garnishments, requests for seizure of property (executions), liens, and case closing documents, this will include but not be limited to: affidavits of non-compliance, motions to set aside installment payment orders, motions to renew judgment; and responses to objections to garnishment, motions for installment payments, and motions to set aside judgments
- Review litigation post judgement case files and pleadings to determine appropriate action
- Advocate on behalf of client’s interests at various litigation settings with an emphasis on post-judgment matters which will include - appearing for a high volume of court hearings including pre-trials, motion hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and occasionally, trials
- Utilize internal proprietary software to properly update and document the status of each account in the assigned inventory
- Analyze and process litigation inventory reports and litigation files, as assigned by Managing Attorney, to ensure that proper litigation work flow is being performed pursuant to the firm and client expectations
- Comply with all client and firm standard operating procedures
- Ability to travel to various courtrooms within the branch office footprint as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Admission to practice law in the state of MI
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly motivated self-starter
- Eagerness to learn
- Ability to manage and prioritize a large caseload
Preferred Qualifications of Associate Attorneys
- Minimum of one year of litigation/trial experience
- Working knowledge of civil procedure
- Debt collection experience
- Prior experience in high volume environment
Physical Qualifications
- Be able to lift five pounds or greater
- Be able to sit 90% of the work day at times
- Be able to bend at the waist and be mobile when needed
- Be able to read and comprehend position specific documents and correspondence
- Be able to communicate in a common language with (or to) individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing
- Be able to travel occasionally when needed by the most efficient means of transportation
- Be able to operate a computer, phone, or equivalent device
- Be able to complete a minimum of a 40-hour flexible workweek schedule
