Scaffolding Operations Manager

Main Purpose:

To supervise and coordinate scaffolding operations, this includes labor and equipment associated with the scaffolding department.


Essential Functions:

  • Oversight of Inventory Control, ensuring team members are properly executing standard inventory transactions and properly self-performing those procedures.
  • Ensure the proper sourcing of materials is readily available and coordinate the transportation of materials to the job site.
  • Oversite for timely processing of returns counts and damage assessments.
  • Oversite of rental requirements and assurance that rentals are properly maintained and returned on time.
  • Review and preliminary approval of rental invoices.
  • Manage intercompany and customer freight as required.
  • Oversite and Management of all offsite scaffolding supervisors.
  • Proficient in estimating scaffolding projects
  • Prepare estimates from drawings 
  • Prepare estimates from site visits
  • Development of man-power requirements to commence and complete the project
  • Develop project work schedule and duration 
  • Responsibilities also include interviewing, hiring – talent evaluation, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Deployment of operational resources in a manner that ensures all customer and company requirements are met.
  • Manage maintenance of company facilities and equipment (trucks, forklifts, machinery).
  • Ensuring projects are completed safely and on schedule.
  • Identifying training and development opportunities for key operative staff in support of the advancement of their careers. 
  • Liaising with and maintaining a good working relationship with clients, surveyors, and other subcontractor project managers as necessary, including the pricing of variations/adaptions.
  • Maintain proper record keeping.
  • Oversite of safe working conditions in the yard, warehouse, and office.
  • Ensure proper PPE use by both employees and visitors.
  • Support the execution of the company’s safety programs and ensure compliance with HSES policies.
  • Ensuring toolbox talks are regularly carried out, recorded, and relevant to the company/operatives. 
  • Manage the company's training matrix in conjunction with the office staff, ensuring all training and certifications are up to date.

  • Lifting: employees must lift 25-50 pounds.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing 

  

Desirable Experience, Education, and Training:

  • BS in Business Management or a minimum of 12 years of Management level related working experience or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding and reasoning ability in order to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving many variables in dynamic and constantly changing situations.
  • Efficient and competent with computer programs; intermediate or stronger skills with Excel and Microsoft Word, PDFs, etc. 
  • Proactive Leadership skills, managing and motivating staff
  • Ability to work with changing/conflicting deadlines

Environmental Conditions:

Most of the work is done in an office environment. Occasionally, outdoor activities, such as yard tours and job site visits, will be required as part of the role.
