Description

THIS POSITION IS FOR THE PALMER RANCH BRANCH BUT WILL BE EXPECTED TO ASSIST AT OUR SARASOTA BRANCH AS NEEDED.


POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on YMCA buildings, mechanical equipment and other property.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment.
  • Replaces broken windows; repairs doors, door locks; installs window blinds.
  • Installs flooring of all types
  • Install and repair plumbing fixtures including but not limited to toilets, sinks, and urinals.
  • Installs electrical wiring and equipment; replace and repair lighting fixtures and ballast.
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; interior and exterior painting
  • Responsible for upholding all staff safety requirements including cleaning protocols throughout the day, as required by my department.
  •  Inspects and performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance to HVAC systems and equipment 
  • Conducts routine grounds and building inspections and initiates repairs, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good skill in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance related areas.
  • Adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy
  • Able to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening

CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • CPR and First Aid Certifications required
  • Annual Completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens Training
  • Annual Completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class
  • Staff Safety Requirements/Cleaning Protocols
  • Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor

Salary Description
17.00 to 18.00 per hour
