The Maintenance Technician is crucial in ensuring the cleanliness, functionality, and operational readiness of the organization's theatres and event spaces. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role encompasses a wide range of custodial and maintenance tasks, including cleaning auditorium spaces, lobbies, restrooms, and maintaining exterior spaces. The Technician also assists with equipment maintenance, marquee updates, and event preparations, promptly reporting any damages or necessary repairs.
This position demands physical endurance, including walking, lifting, and working in various weather conditions. Adaptability and flexibility are essential as the role requires working in a fast-paced environment with shifting schedules and diverse tasks. The Maintenance Technician's meticulous attention to detail and proactive maintenance efforts are vital to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and functionality, supporting the organization's mission to provide exceptional experiences for audiences and performers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Custodial and Maintenance Services (50%)
- Provide comprehensive custodial services in all areas, including cleaning the auditorium, lobby areas, and bathrooms to ensure the front and back of house are in “show-ready” condition.
- Perform carpet and hard surface floor cleaning, painting, and other maintenance tasks as needed.
- Maintain and repair department equipment as needed.
- Make accurate marquee changes in a timely manner as requested.
- Work events as required, ensuring cleanliness and readiness of the venue.
Team Support and Coordination (30%)
- Assist the Maintenance Manager in overseeing the subcontractor event cleaning team and the overnight cleaning crew, including training and team-building activities.
- Work closely with the Front of House and Back of House Management teams to ensure theatre cleanliness.
- Cooperate and work collaboratively with Management and Theatre Operations Coordinators.
Exterior Maintenance and Reporting (20%)
- Maintain the exterior of the theatres, including snow removal from sidewalks and event spaces, ensuring ice-free and debris-free walking surfaces.
- Maintain landscaping to ensure a welcoming and safe environment.
- Promptly report any damage to the theatres to the Maintenance Manager or Operations Coordinators.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall maintenance and operational needs of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in custodial or facilities management
- Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment maintenance
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Due to the nature of our work, employees may be required to work some non-traditional business hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Comfortable working in various environmental conditions, including exposure to dust, dirt, and cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time while navigating multiple levels and areas within a venue
