The Jr. Property Accountant will prepare financial reports to track the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
Essential Functions:
- Full general ledger accounting for assigned Vesta properties (12-15 estimated property portfolio), ensuring accuracy of all financial data and reports, and compliance with GAAP and Vesta procedures.
- Prepare draft financial packages to include monthly operating reports, cash management modules, escrow funding and accounts payable point-in-time ledgers by the 15th of each month.
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations, record journal entries, record monthly accruals and prepaid liabilities, manage multiple bank accounts, and record fixed assets and depreciation, among various other financial tasks necessary to compile accurate and timely reporting.
- Reconcile bank accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries to record bank charges, interest earned, and miscellaneous cash receipts.
- Provide appropriate G/L, A/P, A/R, and banking information as needed to support audits for internal review.
- Prepare financial components of budget as requested for internal review in accordance with established deadlines.
- Prepare audit workpapers ensuring adherence to all investor, agency and company deadlines.
- Participate an annual balance sheet review for all assigned Vesta properties.
- Prepare and submit capital expenditure requests (RFR draws) with required documentation to appropriate parties and track status of funds.
- Need to manage working relationships with outside parties
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Highly proficient in accounting software.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related discipline.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- Highly proficient in accounting software.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Background check and drug screening required.
