Principle Purpose of Job
The Controller serves as the strategic accounting leader of the Denver office, responsible for financial statements of related entities. This includes managing the Denver accounting team, overseeing payroll, accounts payable, and preparing timely and accurate financial reporting, and maintaining robust internal controls. The Controller will produce monthly financial statements on QuickBooks for 11 entities, manage intercompany receivables, and execute special projects for entities involved in residential and commercial construction in collaboration with the Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish and administer all financial systems and internal controls across multiple entities.
- Prepare and review budgets, forecasts, operating results, and financial reports, ensuring compliance with government regulations, company policies, and ownership requirements.
- Oversee the accounts payable process for 11 entities, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
- Manage intercompany receivable functions and ensure timely monthly financial statements for all entities.
- Collaborate with the Accounts Payable and Payroll Specialist to streamline processes and ensure accurate payroll and benefits administration.
- Maintain and update the charts of accounts, providing proper coding and approval processes.
- Participate in the development of annual capital plans and budgets, working closely with executive management and ownership for the entities.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, cash management, and variance analysis for each entity.
- Monitor compliance with internal controls, auditing procedures, and legal requirements, addressing any variances promptly.
- Perform other duties as necessary to support the successful operation of all entities.
- Execute special projects as required.
- Degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.
- At least 5 years of related experience.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to analyze variances and interpret complex financial data to improve practices and develop new approaches.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide and develop the accounting team.
- Flexibility to work holiday hours as needed.
Compensation Description:
$100,000-110,000/ yr Competitive pay commensurate with education and experience.
