The Inventory Accountant role is an individual willing and excited to grow their skills in an environment of rapid growth in this indoor agricultural space, learn and contribute to a dynamic team with locations across the US. A successful candidate will be a self-starter responsible for managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced time sensitive environment while maintaining transactional excellence and internal controls. They will be expected to expand and hone their own strong accounting skills while contributing to a strong team environment. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Perform and analyze cost accounting calculations for raw materials, WIP and finished goods 
  • Review bills of materials, and assist in set up of WIP jobs for accurate capture of costs into the ledger 
  • Determine cost of goods sold differentiating costs to be absorbed into inventory and recorded within inventory in accordance with GAAP versus costs to be expensed as incurred 
  • Research, analyze, and formally document accounting transactions to ensure adherence to reporting requirements and compliance with U.S. GAAP 
  • Specific area of focus on ASC topic 330 (Inventory).  The tracking, reconciliation/roll forward and reporting of the inventory levels and values of all warehouse locations (raw materials, WIP and finished goods) 
  • Communicate directly and often with our operations, supply chain and site leaders to assess inventory questions, accounting treatment and process 
  • Audit inventory movements and purchases of site level transactions in the ERP 
  • Assist in review of inventory purchases with the business to ensure proper accounting treatments 
  • Preparing memos and internal communication outlining the Company’s inventory asset position 
  • Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statement filings including footnotes and disclosures, drafting of financial statement schedules and completing GAAP checklists 
  • Support roll-out of new NetSuite warehouse management functionality to include companywide operational facilities. 
  • Support the Chief Accounting Officer (COA) and Accounting Manager in maintaining the Company’s financial reporting and policies 
  • Establish timelines and prioritization of monthly and quarterly individual deliverables to support monthly and quarterly close processes as well as financial reporting timelines 
  • Interface with internal and external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audit 
  • Assist FP&A with budget versus actual analyses for WIP and COGS entries and inventory turnover 
  • Other duties as assigned 
  • Some travel within the US is required 
Requirements

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 

Education:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Business 
  • Inventory accounting ASC 330 in a manufacturing or growing facility 
  • Extensive reconciliation experience in a variety of accounting areas 

Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in an accounting role with proven advancement 

Language Fluency: English 

Technology: Excellent MS Excel skills, ERP experience, NetSuite preferred, reporting visualization tool and database experience required 


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

Experience:  

  • 8-10 years’ experience in various progressively senior accounting roles 
  • Manufacturing, agriculture industry experience a plus 
  • Experience in applying various GAAP ASC standards 
  • Big 4 accounting firm experience and/or audit experience 

Technology: Experience in PowerBI, Power Query, NetSuite, Sage 100, other ERP experience
