Description

Work towards specified CDC Drug-Free Communities Grant goals and strategies to reduce substance use and abuse in the four selected substances (alcohol, nicotine, marijuana, and prescription drugs) among youth and young adults through prevention strategies, awareness, education, and partnerships. Coordinate aspects of youth prevention programs and services in Union County schools by proactively working with administrators, teachers, counselors, nonprofits, youth-serving organizations, parents, students, and residents. Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the CDC Drug-Free Communities Grant including oversight of the ACTIVE Coalition, eXtreme Youth Programs (EYP), and supervision of the Program Advisors for each school.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required and two years of work experience preferred. Must have proficient knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and the ability to use social media platforms. Ability to speak and present a compelling message to large groups of people related to prevention, drug-free lifestyles, mental health issues, drug use and overdose, trauma, and other sensitive topics. Must work effectively with diverse populations including youth (students in grades K-12), parents, and a variety of working professionals to develop and maintain relationships for desired youth outcomes. Strong organization skills are needed for grant data collection and reporting requirements. Due to public confidence and influence over drug-free and substance-use topics, living a substance-free lifestyle is strong preferred. 


Certifications:

Certified Prevention Specialist or higher is strongly preferred. Must be able to obtain certification within 24 months after hire. 


Sedentary Work: Sedentary Work involves exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods. Jobs may be defined as Sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other Sedentary criteria are met.

The minimum requirements of this position require this individual to:

· Hear alarms/telephone/normal speaking voice

· Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard

· Have clarity of vision with/without corrective lenses 


 This position is considered Safety Sensitive under applicable Arkansas laws pertaining to the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes. Position requires the driving of a vehicle. This position includes as part of the job duties performing life-threatening procedures and regularly working with controlled substances, foods, medicine and highly sensitive and confidential medical information. This position is one in which a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death. For the safety of the employee and others, the employee must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time while performing life-threatening procedures and working with controlled substances, foods, medicine and confidential medical information. 

 

· Must provide and use personal transportation for occasional travel

· Valid current driver’s license

· Must maintain current automobile insurance coverage at all times

· Have and maintain clean motor vehicle report

· Have and maintain a clean criminal history

· Sex offender registry clearance

· Availability to work as scheduled during normal hours of operation 40 hours a week. 

· Ability to work a flexible schedule if there is a need to work overtime, after hours, or weekends.

· Complete annual training 

· Maintain certifications

· Maintain HIPAA and FERPA privacy requirements and confidentiality 

· Must be able to treat ALL people with respect and courtesy without bias or discrimination

Duties:

  •  Responsible for an end-of-year recognition banquet to honor and celebrate student achievements in EYP. 
  • Remain   informed and current with the CDC-DFC Grant and the following: -NOFO   and grant purpose -Continuation   application requirements and due dates, past awards, and changes made in our   proposal -Reporting   requirements and due dates -Budgeting   requirements (allowable/not allowed)-Grant   outcome expectations -Required   activities and allowable activities -All   other aspects of the grant to maintain funding
  • Become   trauma-informed. Work with school districts and community organizations to   raise awareness of ACEs, trauma, PACEs, and the correlation between risky   behaviors and substance use.
  • Manage   the CDC-DFC Grant’s day-to-day activities, including oversight of the ACTIVE   Coalition and eXtreme Youth Programs.
  • Ensure   the grant’s approach falls within the DFC Framework utilizing the Seven   Strategies for Community-Level Change and 40 Developmental Assets.
  • Ensure   all activities and efforts fit within the grant’s two major goals: Goal 1.   Increase community collaboration, Goal 2   (A-D): Reduce youth alcohol, nicotine, marijuana, and prescription drug   use/abuse.
  • Follow   the grant’s 12-Month Action Plan (Work Plan) and revise it annually as   required by the grant.
  • Document the measures and conclusions of activities and events to demonstrate outcomes   are being met. 
  • Build   and maintain relationships with the 12 Sector Representatives. Ensure members   remain active and informed of the grant’s goals, strategies, activities, and   outcomes.
  • Manage   the ACTIVE Coalition with the serving Chairperson to conduct regular   meetings, encourage volunteer involvement in activities, share information   through presentations and guest speakers, and discuss county needs/gaps in   services. Maintain meeting minutes and sign-in sheets.
  • Create   and utilize proper data collection tools to track, monitor, and submit reports   as required by the grant.
  • Submit   monthly In-Kind Reports to the VP of Finance and SARH Foundation Executive   Director for in-kind budgeting requirements.
  • Submit   monthly board reports to the SHARE Foundation CEO and SARH Foundation   Executive Director.
  • Responsible   for grant reporting requirements in DFC Me including surveys, progress   reports, Coalition Classification Tool, Sustainability Plan (as needed), Data   Management Plan, and Core Measures.
  • Assist   the SARH Foundation Executive Director in writing and submitting continuation   applications to maintain grant funding.
  • Secure   MOUs with Union County school districts and direct work of responsible   parties to assure compliance.   
  • Coordinate   with Union County school districts to do the following: 1) Administer the Annual   APNA Survey; 2) Implement prevention curriculum; 3) Rotate curriculum   regularly for up-to-date prevention methods; 4) Ensure schools are tracking   and reporting data; 5) Schedule drug-free presentations and activities.
  • Coordinate   an annual multi-media campaign to raise awareness about youth prevention   services, grant activities, call to action, etc.
  • Understand   the 5 Pillars of eXtreme to proactively develop and direct countywide   prevention strategies.
  • Supervise   the Program Advisors. Hire, train, and discipline staff according to SHARE   policies and procedures. Responsible for accurate timekeeping, timely   submission to payroll, completing required annual employee performance   evaluations, and ensuring annual training is completed by employees by   deadlines.
  • Ensure   Advisors are organizing and participating at an acceptable level for their   school.
  • Organize,   promote, facilitate, and supervise student member prevention meetings.
  • Provide   leadership training for peer leaders on how to conduct meetings themselves   without the need for supervision or oversight.
  • Responsible   for an annual one-day eXtreme Youth Summit for youth in South Arkansas.
