The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the support of each of the communities in their volunteer efforts including recruitment, training and retention.

 

Full-Time, Days 

Pay Range: $20.15 - $26.75 per hour


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Recruit, screen, interview and recommend placement of volunteers for the site-specific activities for each of the communities (e.g., altar guild, Chapel, garden club), and recreational programs that support resident life and individual resident needs.
  • Maintain records and provide timely statistical data and activity reports on volunteer participation in department database.
  • Conduct a volunteer satisfaction survey and address issues or concerns, making course corrections as needed.
  • Develop and regularly provide on-going communication, training, and recognition for all agency volunteers.
  • Attend community outreach opportunities such as volunteer fairs and conferences.
  • Working with the Foundation and Marketing departments, develop and implement a marketing plan to promote volunteer opportunities and showcase volunteer activities at ESLC.
  • Develop and oversee a formal volunteer orientation and training program.
  • Create and oversee a coordinating council that includes recreation staff from each of our communities.
  • Coordinate volunteer events including but not limited to: United Way Day of Caring, National Make A Difference Day, Tip Top Shoppe activities including the management and retail side, and annual volunteer recognition dinner and awards ceremony.
  • Manage volunteer program budget.
  • Develop and maintain volunteer program policies and procedures. 
  • Assist with other duties as needed that support ESLC’s mission, vision and values. 



Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  •  Associate’s degree in related field or combination education and experience.
  • Prior experience working with volunteers is required. A minimum of 5 years professional experience in health care or human services.
  • Must have valid New York State driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Good organizational and prioritization skills. 
  • Ability to self-motivate, work independently, and within a team. 
  • Knowledge of communication devices: phone, fax, e-mail, internet, web-based media. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office components, desktop publishing, and ability to manage databases. 
  • Strong customer service focus. Strong team player. 
  • Ability to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, vendors and the general public. 
  • This position may/will have access to resident property or belongings.

Performing duties of this job requires occasional walking, standing, and sitting. Must be able to occasionally lift loads of 30 pounds without assistance. The majority of essential job duties are performed indoors, in a normal office environment. Employee may be exposed to temperature fluctuations.  

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP: The work is performed within established guidelines, and requires periodic supervision. The employee exercises some initiative and independent judgment to effectively perform the essential job duties of this position.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR OTHERS: The employee has no direct responsibility for other staff. Primary oversight will be over volunteers. 

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Shall be fully acquainted with all safety policies and procedures of the Church Home. Takes an active role in all fire drills during the shift and/or emergencies for internal and external disasters as monitored by supervisor and incident manager. Must comply with facility in-service requirements.
