We are now inviting qualified candidates for the Executive Director of Instructional Technology. The successful candidate will provide leadership for integrating instructional design into teaching and learning for the institution, working with the institutional Chief Academic Officer. 

The Executive Director will research, analyze, and identify new, innovative instructional methodologies and associated technologies for potential applications in instruction to support the educational goals of South College; coordinate the development of policies, procedures, and standards related to distance learning; ensure the quality of instruction and support services for hybrid and distance learning courses; serve in the role as front-end administer of the Canvas Learning Management System; manage the growing Instructional Design team; and coordinate all associated training, support, and resource management for maximum effectiveness. 

Responsibilities:

· Provides leadership in the development of strategic approaches for the integration of technology into teaching and learning, ensuring the mission, vision, and goals of South College is supported.

· Lead the instructional design team.

· Collaborate with administration and faculty to establish, expand, and enhance a premier distance learning program that implements education initiatives in accordance with the mission, vision, and goals of South College.

· Coordinate the development of policies, procedures, and standards related to distance learning.

· Research, analyze, and identify new, innovative instructional methodologies and associated technologies for potential applications in instruction as well as best practices in distance learning. 

· Provide collaborative leadership in the selection, implementation and assessment of new instructional methodologies, associated technologies, and best practices in distance learning. 

· Collaborate with faculty to develop pedagogically sound instructional uses of technology to enhance teaching and learning in on-ground, hybrid, and distance learning courses.

· Supervise the development and design of distance learning courses and assist with planning and assessment of curriculum and learning outcomes.

· Provide consultation for the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of education curriculum, projects, programs, and initiatives.

· Develop a peer review process for reviewing and evaluating distance learning courses, ensuring the quality of distance learning courses meets applicable standards.

· Oversee and provide front-end administration of the Canvas Learning Management System.

· Plan, coordinate, and facilitate faculty training programs, workshops, and seminars on instructional technologies, teaching and learning strategies and methodologies, as well as distance learning pedagogy and best practices.

· Collaborate with the Instructional Technologist and Director of Faculty Training in developing and updating technology-based instructional materials.

· Diagnose and correct problems or support issues related to the learning management system and other instructional technology systems.

· Provide guidance in ADA compliance regulations in distance learning course development.

· Communicate information to faculty regarding professional development opportunities, best practices in teaching and learning, and research findings regarding new and emerging technologies.

· Communicate information to faculty with regard to the Canvas Learning Management system, including updates, upgrades, policies, and best practices for blended and online learning utilizing the LMS.

· Build strong relationships with administration, faculty, students, and external entities.

Qualifications include providing evidence of the following:

· Graduate Degree in related field- minimum of a master’s degree; Doctorate in Instructional Technology preferred

· 2 years required experience in instructional design at a post-secondary educational institution; 5 years preferred

· Experience in education theory and methodology, preferred.
