Location: CYC Rebecca Crown Center at 7601 S. Phillips Ave. (Chicago, IL)
Schedule: 1:00p - 6:00p; Monday - Friday; schedule varies depending on program needs
Purpose: The Program Aide will provide the necessary staffing classroom coverage in Early Childhood Classrooms. Assist Child Care Director in providing case management services, recruitment and enrollment of eligible families; developing resources for families of children enrolled, conduct follow-up on children with excessive and sporadic attendance; assist in with organization of children files and the attainment of a successful transition of children to Kindergarten.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in carrying out the state and local licensing requirements and meeting the Head Start Performance Standards.
- Actively supervise children at all times, ensuring that active supervision procedures are followed, and maintain child/staff ratios in accordance with state and federal requirements.
- Communicate with the Teacher/ Assistant Teacher in order to become familiar with the classroom environment assigned, the location of emergency information, the First Aid Kit, the daily environmental checklist and the daily routine.
- Review the daily plan and be prepared to assist with implementation of the daily plan before the children arrive at the site.
- Assist the teacher/ assistant teacher in preparing the environment by setting out the necessary materials and/or equipment before the children arrive to the site.
- Take “attendance” of the children who are in the small group(s) prior to leaving the classroom and after returning to the classroom. Keep an attendance list of the children when leaving the classroom for any reason.
- Write anecdotal/observation notes on children.
- Engage in children’s play in all areas of the classroom and all parts of the curriculum, for example: floor play, outdoor/gross motor and music/movement activities.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or College experience (AA degree preferred).
- Illinois Gateway Early Childhood Credential (minimum Level 1) –to be completed within 30 days of hire.
- 1 Year experience in Head Start/Early Head Start or child care setting.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written), good computer skills as well as the ability to work with a diverse group of people is required.
- Bilingual speaking a plus.
