Job Title: Case Worker – Social Services 

Location: SeaTac WA. (in-person)

Department: Housing and Social Services

Reports To: Chief Housing Specialist 

Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000

FLSA Status: non-exempt

African Community Housing & Development (ACHD) is a culturally rooted, community-founded organization led by visionary Black women and a community Board of Directors. ACHD works towards an informed African Diaspora immigrant and refugee community engaged in the holistic development of families, communities, and the environment. ACHD focuses on equitable and culturally relevant health, legal, and educational services; housing stability and economic growth; and land-use, real estate, and property development. ACHD staff speak 13 languages, and over 80% identify as Black or People of Color.


Job Summary:

The Social Services Case Worker will provide holistic, culturally rooted case management services to participants regarding eviction prevention, housing, and human services (including basic needs, bus ticket program, food, public benefits enrollment, and other services). 


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Complete paperwork thoroughly and accurately
  • Provide direct, holistic case management to clients, including referrals, and bring together different resources to meet their needs 
  • Work closely with participants to develop and manage their plans to meet their goals and preferred outcomes (i.e. finding employment or stable housing) 
  • Provide cultural, linguistic, and advocacy services for clients in different settings as needed, including employer, public services, legal, medical, housing, and more 
  • Work with Housing and Social Services teams to build and manage relationships with stakeholders, including landlords, community leaders and elders, social services agencies, community-based organizations, and others. 
  • Track and manage records and daily activities while ensuring the confidentiality of participants. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chief of Housing Specialist. 
  • This position is in person at ACHD’s SeaTac office. Remote work will not be permitted.

Requirements

  

Required Qualifications:

  • Two or more years working in social services, case management, social work, or related field  
  • Access to reliable transportation and being comfortable with travel throughout South King County, including potential home visits with participants, is a must (clean driving record required). Ability to engage with and serve the African Diaspora community in a culturally responsive and respectful manner  
  • Ability to take initiative; self-starter  
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and demands, establish priorities, manage deadlines, and work effectively in an energetic environment  
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel, Teams, Outlook, and Word   
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Background check and proof of COVID vaccination will be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work, nonprofit management, business, or related field  
  • Experience with Apricot or another case management database  
  • Fluency in a language other than English preferred, especially Somali, Amharic, Oromo, Tigrinya, or Kiswahili/Swahili
