Description

The Manufactured Home Improvement and Replacement Program (MHIR) Home Repair Technical Assistance Specialist will primarily administer technical and application assistance to park owners and residents who have unmet needs that affect habitability leading to unsafe and unhealthy housing living conditions and/or displacement. This position will connect applicants to appropriate vendors or contractors to address their housing repairs needs; conduct outreach and distribution of communication materials and market the MHIR program to manufactured home park owners and residents; and coordinate with the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) and statewide and regional housing authorities to provide additional support services and better promote the MHIR program.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline plus two years of community service experience or combination of education and experience from which comparable skills and knowledge are acquired. Case management experience desired.

Relevant experience in housing repairs and counseling, low income advocacy, code enforcement, emergency planning, community organizing and education is preferred. Commitment to social and racial justice is essential. Effective verbal and written communication skills required (bilingual abilities are a plus!). Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, access to private transportation, and willingness and ability to travel extensively in state.  Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as events or meetings require.
