The AP Specialist/Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the accounts payable to the subledger, processing and posting weekly payments and performing vendor research and reconciliations. Additionally, the position will be responsible for assisting in month-end reporting procedures and perform a range of general clerical and accounting functions that are consistent with College policy and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The AP Specialist/Staff Accountant will promote the college’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) statement where applicable.
The AP Specialist/Staff Accountant will process and pay vendor invoices utilizing accounting software. Processing includes matching invoices with purchase order information, or obtaining necessary approvals, coding and prorating invoices to different jobs and departments and entering and verifying data into the system.
Performs general ledger account reconciliations. Responsible for complying with the College’s financial policies. Prepares monthly and annual reports on accounts as required; prepares detailed schedules, worksheets, and analysis required for annual audit, and assists with the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements.
QUALIFICATIONS: An Associate degree in accounting, or a related field with concentration in accounting is required. One to five years’ experience or internship in accounting or related field. Experience in public accounting and/or not for profit accounting a plus. Confidentiality is of the utmost importance. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check.
