Purpose and Scope:

This role encompasses the full range of user experience-focused Senior Content Designer duties and responsibilities, including strategy, writing and editing, and operations. Incumbents in this role are expected to perform at a level considered senior in the content discipline, developing and implementing strategies, governance frameworks, and processes that support delivery throughout the content lifecycle and align with our client’s mission and goals. This is not a content marketing role. 


Overview:

Are you passionate about supporting digital services with best-in-class content design? Are you an advocate for accessible, human-centered designs that promote customer success? Do you have experience with web-based information and service delivery platforms, with bonus points for experience in federal agency settings? Are you passionate about accessibility and plain language? Have you supported organizations through digital modernization?  


The Senior Content Designer will work with a multidisciplinary product team to deliver a critical service offering for our government client. They will be responsible for understanding our client’s mission and goals and applying this understanding to content design and process development supporting content delivery. Experience in business process analysis is a plus, as is a successful track record of engaging with software designers and developers about content changes. 

This role includes opportunities to lead strategic initiatives and work with our client to establish human-centered content design methods and best practices for the project.  


Responsibilities:

  • Always be curious. Facilitate discussions to learn from and collaborate with the project team and government customers, understand complex technical systems and user needs, identify key priorities for addressing current and emerging content needs, and build appropriate processes for content delivery. 
  • Fill the gaps. Conduct an inventory and audit of current content to evaluate accessibility and assess needs. Lead review and disposition processes by engaging content owners and subject matter experts. Create new content to fill gaps, either directly or by working with collaborators.   
  • Get into governance. Create, establish, and optimize processes for content design, production, review, and maintenance for more efficient delivery and content handoffs across workstreams. 
  • Guide content contributors. Unleash the power of subject matter experts by providing style sheets, templates, and coaching for creating effective, accessible content. Review and edit their work. 
  • Plan the work. Create and deliver content roadmaps and work plans to stay aligned with your collaborators and support project goals. 
Requirements

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • At least four years of experience in content design, management, or strategy
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with customers and decision-makers. 
  • Demonstrated experience with content strategy frameworks and methods. 
  • Demonstrated experience with content style guides and templates. 
  • Demonstrated writing and editing experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience working with others in a digital content environment, 


Working Environment: 

eSimplicity supports a remote work environment operating within the Eastern time zone so we can work with and respond to our government clients. Expected hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern unless otherwise directed by manager. 

Occasional travel for training and project meetings. It is estimated to be less than 25% per year.

Salary Description
$104,800 - $135,000
