Project & Maintenance Engineer
Description

Cooper Marine is searching for a Project and Maintenance Engineer to assist with project management and both reactive and preventive maintenance of its heavy equipment assets including but not limited to cranes, tugboats, barges, ship berths, docks, fleeting areas, and heavy equipment rolling stock. The ideal candidate for this position is someone with a maritime related background who is self-motivated, thorough, willing to be hands on in the field, is efficiency oriented/creative, and works well with all levels of management, skilled labor, vendors, and contractors.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage capital outlay projects
  • Assist with day to day maintenance to ensure safe, efficient operation of assets
  • Assist with preventive maintenance programs ensuring both short- and long-term efficient operation of assets
  • Assist with purchasing and managing of critical spare parts inventory
Requirements

Education

  • B.S. in Engineering or equivalent training, education, and/or experience


Preferred Requirements

  • Ability to interpret basic engineering drawings
  • Able to use CAD software
  • Industrial, heavy equipment, and maritime background
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems
  • Basic understanding of civil/structural systems including fabrication and machining work
  • Ability to carry out projects from preliminary stages through completion including budgeting, scheduling, etc
  • Ability to lead and direct skilled labor including direct company employees and outside contractors
