Paralegal
Description

The Paralegal will be responsible for assisting and supporting General Counsel with research on substantive legal issues, the review and preparation of legal documentation such as memorandum, corporate policies, and contracts. The person in this position may also be involved with a variety of compliance, litigation, and other company matters. All legal work performed by the Paralegal will be reviewed and approved by General Counsel to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal ethical standards. The Paralegal will regularly interface with General Counsel, MSI management, risk and insurance managers, human resources, business development and field managers.


POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the contract management and document control
  • Assist with the negotiation of commercial contracts
  • Prepare legal documentation such as memoranda, corporate policies, and commercial contracts.
  • Assist with risk management through the organization and maintenance of corporate insurance policies
  • Assist General Counsel on contract status, legal and insurance risks, and business terms of global contracts and purchase orders
  • Assist with providing training to company and its affiliates on substantive legal topics
  • Assist with business immigration process and case management 
  • Provide day-to-day administrative legal support for General Counsel
  • Organize, maintain and track files and records – paper and electronic
  • Liaise with outside counsel on a variety of legal matters relating to intellectual property, employment, litigation, etc.
  • Research unique legal issues impacting the organization by identifying applicable statutes, judicial decisions, and codes
Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies, certificate in paralegal studies or similar field and/or relevant experience 
  • Two to four years of experience working as a Paralegal in either a firm or corporate setting, preferably in a corporate setting
  • Experience using Adobe Acrobat, Excel and Word
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with internal and external stakeholders including operations, business development, compliance, legal, regulatory and administrative personnel
  • Excellent analytical, organization and negotiation skills, as well as initiative to work independently
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptive and the ability to operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • The highest standards of ethics and professional integrity
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience will federal contracts is a plus
  • Results-driven with a strong sense of urgency

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

There is a minimal risk of injury. Work hours are generally during normal business hours. Business travel may be required on an as needed basis.
