The Regional Director of Sales & Marketing position will work hand-in-hand and directly report to the VP of Sales & Marketing of StepStone Hospitality. This individual will be responsible for setting Sales & Marketing strategies as well as providing Sales & Marketing support and resources to a portfolio of hotels in the StepStone Hospitality portfolio.
The Regional Director of Sales & Marketing must be a detail oriented, hands-on individual who understands the Sales & Marketing aspects of the industry, formulate appropriate strategy, as well as effectively manage, communicate, and hold team members accountable in delivering results. More specifically, responsibilities will include:
- Determine market conditions and make recommendations on acquisition opportunities
- Assist in development of sales & marketing plans and strategies for portfolio of properties
- Monitor sales & marketing plan strategies and hold team accountable for results
- Oversee creation, modification and implementation of ongoing sales & marketing plans and actions
- Utilize sales & marketing tools & reports including STAR reports, TravelClick Reports, Readerboard reports, etc. to identify opportunities to maximize RevPAR and total revenue
- Assist in corporate rate negotiations
- Review sales team deployment and adjust deployment as necessary to maximize revenue
- Assist in hiring DOS/sales team
- Assist in development of marketing budgets
- Completion of regular onsite visits to review strategies and implement Sales & Marketing Standard operating procedures
- Track and monitor results of sales bonus program
- Participate in sales calls with team members and conduct sales training with sales managers and other onsite team members
- Assist in optimizing and prioritizing the activities of each sales department including holding them accountable to goals and call quotas
- Communicates with VPO, COO, Revenue Manager and GM on rate strategies and group bookings
- Assist in determining ROI of promotional events, marketing spend, trade shows, and industry conference
Professional Qualifications:
- Multi-Unit, Branded, Select Service (Marriott, Hilton, IHG), Full Service, Convention Center, Independent, & high-end hotel sales experience
- 10+ years’ experience as a Director of Sales & Marketing at mid/large size hotel (including catering/banquet)
- Third-party management experience
- Knowledge of general sales techniques and strategies
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Self-starter and ability to get things done both independently and collaboratively as the situation requires
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and balance multiple tasks at one time
- Ability to oversee staff of varied backgrounds and skill levels
- Able to drive both the strategy and implementation of initiatives
- Capacity to balance the big picture, strategic perspective with attention to the details of execution
- Ability to travel up to 75% will be required
- College Degree in applicable field or equivalent experience desired
Compensation: A competitive base salary and bonus structure commensurate with experience will be offered.
Location: This is a remote position with up to 75% travel to properties across the U.S. and to the home office based in Providence, RI.
