The O&M Auxiliary Operator monitors assigned power plant equipment and executes assigned processes in a safe, proper, and efficient manner. This includes, but is not limited to, taking readings, providing samples, and ensuring equipment is operating properly and in accordance with approved procedures, guidelines, and operating directives from the Control Room Operator and plant management.
Responsibilities:
Plant Operations
- Monitors power plant and well field operations through the completion of assigned daily activities.
- Ensures all power plant and well field functions are operating safely and efficiently.
- Monitors performance of plant equipment and takes appropriate corrective action when necessary.
- Develops strong working knowledge in the operation of all plant equipment.
- Creates and maintains logs and required reports detailing equipment readings, lab data, alarms, observation, and notable trends regarding standard and non-standard plant operation.
- Assists in troubleshooting issues and diagnosing equipment failures or anomalies.
- Assists in forecasting generation for the site on an hourly, daily, and weekly basis.
- Assists with the start-up, operation, and shutdown of all plant, wellfield, and auxiliary equipment, including turbines and generators.
Company Support
- Adheres to, supports, and helps enforce all company safety and environmental rules, policies, and procedures.
- Assists with causality control measures during plant upset conditions, including containment, control, and corrective actions.
- Completes all required safety, process, equipment or related trainings by deadlines.
- High School Diploma or equivalent education.
- Ability to work rotating shifts supporting 24/7 operations and applicable overtime as needed to meet plant and outage demands.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and in writing
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, while demonstrating responsible behavior and attention to detail
- Ability to enter confined areas and enter difficult-to-access areas.
- Ability to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Ability to reach with hand and arms.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk moderate distances, twist, stoop/bend, squat, kneel, crawl, reach, push, pull, and climb stairs or ladders regularly.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to tolerate remote environments, indoor /outdoor work, wildlife, possible dust, dirt, and wind, including any weather typical for all seasons in Nevada, southern CA, Utah, and New Mexico.
- Ability to don all forms of required Personal Protective Equipment and work at heights up to 50'.
- Occasionally, in the field, the employee could be exposed to hazardous, toxic, or caustic chemicals, as well as loud areas and exposed hot piping consistent with geothermal power plant operations.
