WHAT YOU'LL DO
Directs and coordinates all aspects of portfolio management activities for the Coastal CCBX division. Has full ownership of the loan and credit review function; and executes work in accordance with loan review methodology, all applicable standards, defined plans, budgets, schedules, and regulatory requirements. Manages, plans, and coordinates risk programs to control risks and losses. Identifies, evaluates, and implements corrective action against risks that may result in liability.
HOW YOU'LL DO IT
- Lead key channels from risk perspective and conduct sophisticated analytics to build best-in-class credit and pricing strategies for unsecured credit portfolios.
- Work with finance, operations, sales and collections to deliver upon targeted credit performance and risk adjusted returns.
- Strong background in leveraging multiple complex data sources such as credit bureau information, cash flow information, customer supplied information, and alternative data sources at a large scale to build sophisticated credit strategies.
- Collaborate with internal engineering, product, and operations teams to implement analytical solutions into production.
- Develop strategies that will enable lending decisions for hundreds of small businesses every month.
- Assists Credit and Risk Executives in directing and providing oversight of the interpretation of credit analysis and reporting from each line of business to executive management, regulatory agencies and the investment community. Provides current and long-term strategic direction for the Credit Risk function throughout the enterprise including Corporate and Investment Banking, Wholesale, Community, Small Business and Consumer Banking. Monitors credit quality, risk rating migration and relevant trends in portfolio.
- Develops and recommends credit objectives, policies and procedures. Provides strategic direction and guidance to leaders engaged in credit risk management, to include direct supervision of staff. Manages and directs the credit portfolio to ensure alignment with strategic direction of enterprise in concert with Credit and Risk Executives, overseeing the financial institution's credit portfolio.
- Lead teams to diagnose credit performance trends, and drive loss mitigation and pricing decisions, enabling swift business decisions.
- In-depth understanding of credit card and consumer lending product lifecycle including acquisition, portfolio management activities like balance transfer, credit line management, high risk accounts mitigation, and collection.
- Expert analytical skills to assess credit risks, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Proficient knowledge of credit scoring models, forecasting methodologies, credit risk analytics, dashboards and reporting
- Monitor credit loss rates, delinquency trends, and default rates, and take corrective actions when necessary.
- Proficient knowledge of consumer credit regulations such as Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), and other regulatory frameworks relevant to consumer lending.
- Strong proficiency in credit risk management tools and software, including statistical analysis tools like SQL, R, or Python
- Leadership and team management skills to supervise credit and data analysts.
- Proficiency demonstrating strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills especially in managing high-risk accounts and portfolios.
- Analyzes and classifies risks as to frequency and potential severity, and measures financial impact of risk on company.
- Coordinates the planning, execution, and reporting of credit reviews performed by internal staff and external consultants.
- Develops and maintains relationships as account manager with all pertinent parties within the institution as well as with regulators, Internal Audit, and Credit Audit.
- Collaborates with others in delivering an independent, well-executed credit review program, and provides top management and the audit committees with an assessment of credit quality, credit processes, risk concentrations, and risk management practices.
- Analyzes risks, prepares and manages an annual review plan, and revises the plan to address emerging developments.
- Communicates pertinent investment details on portfolio positioning and current market and economic trends with senior management and Trust Administrators.
- Studies data and develops an investment game plan. Decides which investment plans and projects make the most sense and prioritizes each investment vehicle.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Experience with business intelligence tools like Power BI, Tableau
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 specifically Excel
- Experience with credit scoring models and risk management tools for consumer credit portfolios
- Experience with fintech or subprime preferred
- Thorough understanding of investment management
- Strong knowledge of finance, economics and general business
- Ability to make critical decisions independently
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
- Experience leading a team
- Experience leveraging data and analytics to monitor and manage portfolio risk
- Strong fundamental credit risk experience, dealing with evaluating financial statements of sizeable organizations
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Statistics or related disciplines can be advantageous.
- 2-3 years of experience in credit risk management at a director level, preferably within consumer credit cards or unsecured consumer lending products.
