We are seeking a detail-oriented and quality-driven leader to join our team as the Assistant Vice President of Services (AVP) with a focus on our civil services which includes municipal, water resources, and site design. In this pivotal role, you will report to the Vice President of Services and lead a team, or teams committed to delivering exceptional, consistent services to our clients. As the key technical leader, you will ensure that service delivery is aligned with the highest quality standards across the organization, driving consistency at every level.
This role emphasizes the importance of quality assurance and standardization, ensuring that best practices are developed, implemented, and upheld across teams. You will foster a culture of continuous improvement, working closely with leadership and HR to ensure technical training and development meet evolving industry standards. This is a NEW position introduced in 2024 as part of an organizational design initiative with the goal of preserving our quality, scaling our internal operations, and driving long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and Inspire: Coach, lead, and inspire Quality Leads on technical matters; coach and inspire Group Managers, providing expert guidance on technical matters and fostering a collaborative, results-driven culture.
- Align & Optimize: Ensure workshare and backlog management through alignment of the service groups and Group Managers. Collaborate with Operations AVPs, Group Managers, and Service AVP peers to assist with operational efficiency, ensure project excellence, and maintain alignment in service delivery and quality.
- Ensure Quality Excellence: Develop, implement, and maintain the service group's Quality Management Plan, ensuring that quality standards, processes, and procedures are cascaded throughout teams and projects.
- Learning & Development: Identify technical training needs and a technical expert to partner with HR to develop and deliver training to ensure the delivery of our core and emerging services.
- Project Delivery: Ensure corrective actions are taken promptly and that strategic debriefs are conducted post-project for continuous improvement.
- Monitor Industry Trends: Stay ahead of regulatory changes, market trends, and emerging technologies, keeping leadership informed and guiding service innovation.
- Bachelor of Science degree in appropriate engineering or related discipline, advanced degree preferred.
- 8 years professional experience in municipal, water resources, and/or site design services to include project presentations and meeting facilitation.
- Appropriate state Professional Licensure or Certification required.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within the AEC industry, with a focus on strategic planning, quality management, and project delivery.
- Strong technical expertise in engineering, planning, or related disciplines, with a deep understanding of industry standards and best practices.
- Proven experience in project management and delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Effective utilization of common business platforms such as Microsoft Office Suite, virtual meeting tools, etc.
- Ability to travel as needed (on average 20-40% of the time) by car, train, or air.
- Legal right to work in the U.S. and a valid Driver’s License.
