We are a professional services firm that provides third-party retirement plan administration services for companies that sponsor Employee Stock Ownership (ESOPs) and 401(k) Plans. Our offices are located in Charlottesville, VA, Columbia, MD, Columbus, OH, Westchester, IL, Pasadena, CA and Maple Grove, MN, although our client base is nationwide. We are one of the top 2 companies that provide ESOP recordkeeping and administration services in the country, and we continue to grow our retirement services business (401(k), DB, CB, etc).  We are hiring an ESOP Onboarding Specialist - Remote 


The Role:

Blue Ridge is looking to add an experienced ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) Onboarding Specialist to our New Business Team.  In this role you will manage the takeover process for both incoming plans and newly created plans.  Ideally, you will have at least 3 years of relevant experience working in an implementation capacity or as a project manager. 

 

 Essential Functions: :

  • Manage the onboarding process from the initial welcome call with the plan sponsor to completion of setup of the plan in our ESOP recordkeeping system.  
  • Ensure a smooth setup process for new ESOP plans as well as takeovers of existing plans from other service providers to allow for a timely setup of records for new ESOP business.  This includes coordinating with Plan Sponsors and prior providers to collect the necessary plan records and legal documents and attending ongoing status calls when needed.
  • For takeover plans, reconcile asset records to recordkeeping reports and the plan’s annual Form 5500 and establish plan specifications and participant data in our recordkeeping system.  You may also need to follow up with prior service providers to ensure missing details are provided, and show the ability to prepare calculations of needed plan records that prior service providers are unable to provide.
Requirements
  • Experience working with Employee Stock Ownership Plans, including the ability to interpret plan documents and amendments is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to break complex regulations and concepts down so they can be easily understood by plan sponsors.
  • Strong analytical skills and sharp attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Credential from ASPPA is a plus, but not required.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is preferred, but not required 


Work Environment 

This job operates in a clerical office setting, either in our Columbia, MD office, Charlottsville, VA office or remote. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copiers. The office environment and job duties include work conducted via in-person face-to-face meetings, videoconferencing, telephone, and other interactions on the computer. 

 

Physical Demands 

This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and opening cabinets. This position requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary.
