Description
Position Purpose: Designers are responsible for creating detailed plans for roof and floor trusses to be used in construction projects. This position requires a strong understanding of structural engineering principles, building codes, and design software.
Primary Role Expectations:
- Read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Consult with project engineers, architects, construction personnel, and internal sales team to clarify requirements and rectify problems.
- Produce detailed placement plans and truss designs using plans and specifications to meet the customer needs and building codes.
- Accurately design trusses, considering structural integrity, load-bearing capacity, and safety standards.
- Communicate with customers and answer technical questions.
- Support the sales team with excellent customer service (internal and external)
- Communicate specifications with the production team to ensure timely production.
- Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Five (5) years-experience performing these or similar tasks; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of wood products, engineered wood products, building codes, and building construction materials and methods.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Experience designing commercial and residential buildings.
- Experience using MiTek .
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs occasionally.
- Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to operate computer and office equipment.
- Walking, standing, climbing, squatting, bending, lifting, and kneeling are all required physical aspects of the job.
Salary Description
$60,000 - $90,000
