Pelletron, part of the PiovanGroup North America, is the global leading supplier for dust removal systems for plastic processors and plastics manufacturers. Besides the plastics industry, the dedusting technology is also used in the food, mineral and recycling industries. In 2003, the company began to expand into the pneumatic conveying field and developed a new pressure conveying process, trade named pellcon3®. Pelletron has a wide range of pneumatic conveying components such as rotary valves, diverter valves and shut-off valves, specially designed for conveying of pellets and powders. The Pellbow®, a special pipe elbow, another Pelletron invention, is used in the plastics industry to prevent dust and streamers in the conveying process.
Role
The Process & Service Engineer is responsible for start-up and technical service of Pelletron’s pneumatic conveying and Dedusting equipment. Additionally, they support process design, including generating P&IDs and Process Flow Diagrams. This position will report to the Director of Process & Quality Engineering and is located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide start-up commissioning services for assigned projects;
- Travel as required to vendor and customer locations (Pelletron as global company will require occasionally international travel, depending on project requirements);
- Resolve all customer complaints related to assigned projects in a timely and cost-effective manner;
- Establish relationship and remain in contact with the customer prior to start-up to ensure that equipment and systems are installed completely and correctly ahead of a site visit
- Review of all required technical documentation including P&ID’s, sequence of operation, equipment drawings, general arrangement drawings, electrical wiring diagrams, specification sheets, and manuals are correct and meet the process requirements before making a start-up visit. Develop and create start-up plan and produce with required documentation.
- Create written reports to document results of start-up visits and define follow-up actions.
- Sizing and selection of equipment in accordance with specification;
- Support engineering department concerning process related questions.
- Ensure that technical documents provided are in line with specifications and other contract requirements;
- Ensure that documents provided are delivered with the required quality and within the time frame required;
- Participate at Kick-Off meetings internally, and when required as well externally to fully understand project and delivery requirements;
- Produce AutoCAD Plant 3D models, 2D drawings, layout’s, P&ID’s, process flow diagrams and bill of materials based on written and/or verbal instructions;
- Always keep project files organized according to Pelletron filing system;
- All drawings, datasheets, manuals and other technical documents to be completed in metric and imperial units;
- Provide sales support as required.
Qualifications and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering (or related field);
- Five (5) years of related experience and/or training in engineered systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience, ideally with pneumatic conveying and dedusting systems;
- Experience in use of Microsoft Office Products is required;
- Experience and proven ability to use AutoCAD 2D, Plant 3D software is preferred
- Ability to read, interpret, and develop documents such as purchase orders, contracts, specifications, engineering reports, blueprints, office procedures, parts lists, and price book;
- Ability to write routine correspondence;
- Speak effectively, both one-on-one and in groups with vendors, customers, and employees;
- Experience with SAP will be a plus;
- Ability to travel to vendors and customer premises, valid US Passport when required;
- Ability to make start-up and inspections: climbing ladders to platforms and silos in customer plants.
